Bradez has one nomination with Simple which is nominated in the ‘WEST AFRICA SONG OF THE YEAR’ category. Sarkodie has two nominations, they are ‘BEST NEW ARTIST’ and ‘BEST HIP-HOP SONG’ with his track ‘Baby’.

When she won the Miss Ghana USA pageant, Miss Agnes Ntow set out on a mission to eradicate child trafficking and prostitution in Ghana. The best way to eradicate such a canker is to tackle the poverty and lack of education aspect of it. And that’s what she has been doing ever since.

One of the jobs considered as a reserved for men is Disc Jockeying, that’s what Agnes enjoys doing. Miss Ntow gets the opportunity to mentor to the teenage African and African American girls through her pogramme ‘Phenomenal Woman’. The documentary ‘Zoom Zoom’ – The Professor did not only attract sports personalities, it also got the attention of some entertainment personalities. Actress Nadia Buari and Ama K. Abebrese were among the celebrities to donate to the Azumah Nelson Foundation last Saturday at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra.

The MC of the night Ama K. Abebrese who is casted to feature in the movie ‘Sinking Sands’ by Leila Djansi, the director of the hit movie ‘I Sing of a Well’ kicked off the donation train by giving out 1,000 Ghana Cedis. ‘Check Mate’ actress Nadia Buari also gave 1,500 Ghana Cedis.

Last Saturday at the Silverbird Cinema in Accra, well wishers were taken down memory lane as they remembered staying up late in those days to watch Azumah Nelson do what he knows how to do best in the boxing ring; which is beating people. The legendary boxer Azumah Nelson was celebrated. Born in Bukom, Accra in 1958, Azumah Nelson was WBC World Champion for over a decade and was arguably the greatest boxer to come out of Africa.

Shirley Frimpong-Manso has expressed her concern about how the government has shown no support for the Ghanaian movie industry. She complained that even though the act of filmmaking is financially draining, the government has turned a deaf ear to all the problems filmmakers are facing in the country.

The Ghanaian movie producer/writer/director who won the ‘Director of the Year’ award at the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards  held recently in Nigeria described the problem as a ‘big shame’ on the part of the government.

Another Day,Another Awards For Ghana:Shasha Marley Wins Best African Reggae Artiste @ KORA 2010

One of Ghana’s reggae artistes, Shasha Marley, has once again proven that he is a force to reckon with in Africa as far as reggae music is concerned.

This he did by emerging the Best African Reggae Artiste of The Year at the KORA All Africa Music Awards held in Ouagadougou, Burkina-Faso, on Easter Sunday.

The event, which attracted over 3,000 showbiz personalities from various African countries, was hosted by the President of Burkina Faso, Blaise Compaore, at the plush Palaise De Sports in Ouagadougo.

Artistes from 24 African countries took part in the competition which was judged through a share of public and jury votes.
