NDC Approves 156 Million Dollar Loan to Buy Sanitary Pads…

Sanitary PadThis morning I was listening to president Mahama address the Nation. My brothers were insulting him and saying nothing will change and that he doesn’t mean all the assurances he was making on the radio. I was arguing on his behalf, telling them how he sounds remorseful this time around. And how I believe he has understood the message of #OccupyFlagStaffHouse and will get to work.

Well a few hours later, I feel stupid for supporting him. Truly the economy has reached a crisis point but our clueless leaders continue to make decisions that leave us believing they are viscous, wicked and vile and are only looking for quick excuses to line their own pockets.

I am still trying to recover from the shock of hearing and reading about the government approving a loan to buy pads! Such an insult to our frustrations as a nation…

In the middle of all these bad decisions, we have found nothing meaningful to spend money on but pads? NDC faithfuls were on Facebook defending it as a move to make sure students do not stay away from school because of bad sanitary and toilet facilities. Laughable!

Are we anywhere near economic recovery if we will make such juvenile economic decisions in the middle of several agitations from, different sectors of the economy? We have not recovered from a waste of resources in Brazil and here we are. Not even using our own money, we are borrowing 156 million dollars to buy sanitary pads! God in heaven!

Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration-Hannah Tetteh MOCKS #OccupyFlagStaffHouse Protest

Hanna Tetteh
Hanna Tetteh’s Tweet

While Ghana’s economy is at its worst, prompting struggling Ghanaians to stage a protest to take their plight the door steps of the Presidency-Flag Staff House, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration-Hannah Tetteh seems to think  nothing is WRONG with the economy and the protest is pretty shameful…

The Minister took to twitter to mock the protesters and those who started the campaign, saying, the number of protesters is nothing for anyone to be worried about…

But what Hannah Tetteh has probably forgotten is that, it takes such small number of people to start anything big—by the time she is done tweeting, her Government will be so unpopular—beyond redemption.

DID HE REALLY SAY THAT: The Propaganda Secretary of NDC Says Mobile Phones Are the Cause of Ghana’s Energy Crisis…

Charging phones

No wonder this man is the propaganda secretary of a political party in Ghana. But even that, from what direction is he making the argument that the current energy crisis in Ghana is due to increasing number of mobile phones in the country?

According to CitiFmOnline.Com, Richard Quarshigah-Member of Parliament (MP) for Keta who doubles as Propaganda Secretary of NDC speaking on Point Blank segment on Eyewitness News said;

“Ghana is currently under-going a load-shedding exercise due to inconsistent gas supply from Nigeria, the shutdown of Bui Dam plant, and a drop in the generation capacity of the Aboadze gas plant”.

J. J Rawlings Says ‘I’m One Of Africa’s Cleanest Leaders…I’ve Never Been Corrupt’

J J Rawlings

Though we are yet to see any leader calling himself corrupt, the many of our African leaders (past and present) perfectly fit the word…

Despite countless allegations of Human Right Violations and Corruption that were thrown at him and his government when he was the President of the Ghana, Jerry John Rawlings has come out to state that, he is one of Africa’s cleanest leaders and that he was never corrupt…

Pretty interesting right?

line

Former President Jerry Rawlings of Ghana has said he is one of Africa’s cleanest leaders to have been head of state.

“I will dare you to go and line up some of your finest policemen, some of your finest heads of state, some of your finest judges. Make any allegations against me. You included. Whatever questions you want to ask; take me through a chemical interrogation. I will be the one who will pass. I wonder how many of you will pass,” Mr Rawlings told some African youths at a forum outside Ghana recently.

Responding to a question from a member of the audience about allegations of corruption leveled against him back home by critics, Mr Rawlings retorted: “…Chief when it comes to accusing me, don’t forget, eight generals, three former heads of state, painfully executed. I Rawlings will not turn round and commit the very crime for which another man lost his life.”

Tweaa DCE

After making the word ‘Twea’ so popular and even claiming that his absurd utterance has made him more famous, DCE Twea (real name Gabriel Barima) from Ahafo Ano South has been SACKED…

Now that DCE Gabriel has been sacked, how are we going to find the person who said Tweaa? I guess the question of the century that will remain unanswered is; who said Tweaaa?

line

Akua Donkor Says ‘I’ll Sue Nana Addo, He’s A Thief, He Stole My Free SHS Education Policy’

Akua Donkor

Politics in Ghana gets funny sometimes—and I guess we need that to kill off the tension. With NPP screaming for the past week that the NDC has somehow stolen their FREE SHS Educational Policy/Campaign promise, and the NDC saying otherwise, things have taken a different turn.

Madam Akua Donkor has jumped into the debate to label Nana Akufo Addo a thief, claiming that the latter stole her FREE SHS Educational policy…

line

According to PeaceFm;

The Founder and leader of Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Akua Donkor has labeled the 2012 Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) a “thief”.

According to her, the ‘Free SHS Education’ policy which some NPP members including their 2012 flagbearer have claimed ownership was exclusively introduced by her though she did not get the nod from the Electoral Commission (EC) to pursue that dream as a Presidential candidate in the 2012 polls.

Stressing on her policy, she said the ‘Free SHS Education’ was boldly written on her posters during the 2012 election campaign and everyone saw it but because she did not meet the requirements of the EC, it was ‘stolen’ by the NPP.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr. Says ‘I Pity President Mahama’ | Do You Pity Him too?

John Mahama

We’ve been told the cedi is gradually stabilizing against the dollar but is that our only worry as a country?

Things are hard, an occasional saying has become a national anthem and without the right team on board to bring in the needed change, hope is lost for many Ghanaians.

Do you pity the President of Ghana-John Dramani Mahama for his attempt and will to help but his inability to make an impact due to the people on his team?

line

According to PeaceFm;

“Sometimes I sit down and I pity the President. A very sincere young man, he wants to do something but I look at his team and I say to myself; my brother is in big trouble.Is this the team?” queries Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper.

Fall Of The Cedi Is Due To Juju, Dwarfs Says NDC National Women’s Organiser-Anita Desooso

Cedi
Cedi

Are we serious as a nation?

Our inability to dispose off some of the absurd superstitions as Africans does not sit well with the current state of globalization. We cannot even face the truth and work hard to uplift our own economy without invoking God—and now we are blaming Juju and some poor Dwarfs who are probably hungry, looking for bananas to eat…

What a mess!

line

According to AdomFm;

The National Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress has blamed the steep depreciation of the cedi against the dollar and other major trading currencies to black magic or juju.

Anita Desooso, speaking on Adom FM on Monday February 10, 2014 said the activities of magicians, who conjure up money as part of their stock in trade, have a direct effect on the cedi, which is witnessing unprecedented depreciation in recent times.

Citing the activities of black marketers, currency speculators and other people she describes as “saboteurs”, Ms Desooso, who was recently appointed a deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), claimed the juju men, who use dwarfs, stole such monies from banks and other financial institutions and inadvertently affected their stability.

Kofi Wayo Says ‘Ghana Has Collapsed Long Time Ago’

Kofi Wayo
Kofi Wayo

The leader and chairman of the United Renaissance Party (URP), Eric Charles Kofi Wayo, popularly known as Kofi Wayo, has declared that Ghana as a country has collapsed long time ago.

He made this assertion in connection with the economic situation of the country when he spoke on Accra based Okay Fm this evening. He suggested the President meet with critical thinkers like Scientists, Engineers, Businessmen, etc. and seek their ideas to help him govern the country to enable him deal with the economic crisis rather than paying attention to pastors in the country.

Kofi Wayo was speaking in relation to news that broke out recently about Archbishop Duncan Williams spiritually commanding the official currency (Cedi) of the country to rise.

I Feel Sorry For President Mahama And Ghana-Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom Writes

Paa Kwesi-Nduom
Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom Writes

Things have always been hard in Ghana but it is exceedingly hard and getting harder under President Mahama’s leadership—forcing people like Archbishop Nicholas Duncan-Williams to spiritually “command” the falling cedi to “rise”.

Without any hope of things getting better, most Ghanaians are frustrated and are tired of complaining.

What is sad is that, the Government seems not to accept that the economy is heading for disaster—and seems not to have any hopeful plan of restoration.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom has taken to his facebook page to pour out his frustration;

line

I really felt sorry for a President John Dramani Mahama and Ghana when I heard two members of his administration and NDC political party on an Accra radio station this past Saturday.

I wondered, “…are we safe?” These two are senior members of the Mahama Administration gave us all ample reasons why we are where we are with a “see-saw” economy and a suffering people.

According to one of them, high rise buildings, mansions for a few, the Pokuase road among others are “good” reasons for the fiscal deficits Ghana is facing and the depreciation of the cedi. With “experts” like these in government, who needs reality?

Prayer Alone Won’t Take Ghana Anywhere Says Kwesi Pratt

Driving In Ghana (2)
Ghana

Believe me or not, there are certain people in Ghana who refuse to go to the hospital when sick, rather they run to the church. Similarly, there are people who expect to be fed the way the Israelis were fed straight from heaven and there are those who leave everything to God while doing nothing…

It is great that most Ghanaians are God fearing but without engaging in what will bring productivity ( which prayers can’t bring), our country will continue to struggle.

We must know when to leave God alone and take up the mantle…

line

According to PeaceFM;

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper has bemoaned the country’s inability to improve on the economy despite its vast resources.

Speaking to the issue of the downward trend of the economy, Kwesi Pratt Jnr told Suhiyini Alhassan of Radio Gold that the decline in the economy can be based on two factors: low levels of productivity, and the lack of control of the country’s resources.

Low levels of productivity

During the time of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s First President, the country produced lots of items which brought development into the country, according to Kwesi Pratt.

Pratt Joins Many Ghanaians To Warn Gov’t Against Sponsoring Anyone To Brazil 2014 World Cup

World Cup 2014
World Cup 2014

If paying huge sums of money as wages to men kicking balls around a field is not enough waste of resource, a struggling country like Ghana paying further huge sums of money to sponsors people to go and watch these men should definitely be seen as a waste, even by the fanatics.

In line with on-going economic hardship in Ghana, Kwesi Pratty and New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa-Maxwell Kofi Jumah have joined the many Ghanaians who are calling on the Government not to waste state resource on sponsoring people to 2014 WorldCup, to be held in Brazil.

If anyone wants to go to Brazil to watch the Black stars play, they can surely go but why must the Government foot the bill when we could channel that money towards fixing some of the many problems we have in Ghana?

The truth is that, the real football supporters are never sponsored to attend such tournaments. The Government in power’s party supporters are those who benefit from the sponsorship.

line

According to PeaceFm;

Football is obviously one of the country’s biggest sports. Imagine the spectacle without fans. Would it be the same? The answer obviously is a “BIG NO”.

Watching live FIFA World cup is an expensive business, and it gets more expensive every four years. During the 2010 FIFA World Cup held in South Africa, quite a colossal amount of money was used by government to airlift soccer fanatics to South Africa; a decision which later became a major issue of discussion.

The joy that accompanied Ghana’s qualification for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is yet to die down with most football fans dreaming of going to Brazil to be part of the fiesta.

President Mahama Says He Is Being Forced To SACK Finance Minister-Seth Terkper

John Mahama

I do not think sacking the Finance Minister will change anything in Ghana—probably sacking the entire Government may make a difference. The compounding problems of Ghana is not being caused by the dealings of one person-the Finance Minister.

According to President John Dramani Mahama, extensive pressure is being mounted on him from within to sack Finance Minister-Seth Terkper for doing what the president sees to be right for the economy, though, bad for politics…

line

According to Radio XYZ;

President John Mahama says there’s pressure mounting on him from within his own government to sack his finance Minister.

He said certain reforms being engineered by Seth Terkper to tweak the economy to not only break the cycle of ills inherent within it but also fix certain fiscal weaknesses through some reforms, have got tongues wagging in the government, thus the pressure for his dismissal.

Ken Agyapong Is Not NPP Financier, Says Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey

Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey

Hon. Ken Agyepong has on countless platforms made claims that the NPP owes him huge sums of money and to certain people, without the financial help of Ken Agyepong, the NPP as a party cannot operate…

Though many of us sitting afar believe that Ken Agyepong has somehow been financially instrumental in the various NPP’s election campaigns,  the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey has emphatically stated that, Ken Agyepong has never given the party any money—to the best of his knowledge.

According to CitiFmOnline;

National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey, has stated that the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong is not a “key financier” of the party.

“What makes him [Kennedy Agyapong] a key financier of the party,’’ Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey said whiles answering questions on the accusations that the leadership of the party had squandered money and donations meant for presidential campaign in the 2012 elections.

J. J. Rawlings Says Acheampong, Utuka & Others Needed To Die

J J Rawlings

It will be hypocrisy on my apart to suddenly claim that no one has the right to take away the life of another, because life is a God given gift—on the grounds that I don’t even believe in the existence of such a God.

However, even with the absence of objective moral values (as some people argue), right to life is a basic right, inherent, and until a Court of a land through fair trail has ordered so, it becomes illegal to take the life of another—-no matter the justification you can buy from somewhere…

Without a fair trail as we will all accept, J. J Rawlings had no legal right to kill or order the killing of any of the people he did. It is therefore unfortunate that even as at today, he still thinks his actions are justified and proper.

line

According to RadioXYZ;

Former President Jerry Rawlings says the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council necessarily needed to have executed Generals Afrifa, Acheampong, Utaka and other senior Military Officers in 1979 to save the country from implosion.

“We had no choice. We thought let two go. Acheampong and a certain Utuka, very corrupt Generals. They were sacrificed. It was not enough. Ladies and gentlemen, 10 days later, we had to sacrifice another 6 and some of the Commanders were innocent good people but it had to be done because the rage in the country was too high, too much”, the former Military leader told students in the Volta region where he spoke as the Guest of honour at the closing ceremony of the regional camp of the International Youth Fellowship at the Adidome Senior High School.

Let NPP Elders Dare…I’ll Reclaim All My Monies Before I Quit The Party-Ken Agyepong

Ken Agyepong
Ken Agyepong

I’ve always said that politics is never about the masses, the suffering population or those who are being governed. It has and will always be about MONEY, those doing the governing and those who can pull the strings…

Hon Ken Agyepong has stated that he will not bow to any pressures from the Elders of the New Patriotic Party, and if they dare seek to question some of his legitimate actions (talks), they should be ready to cough out the 1.5 million dollars the party borrowed from him…And then he will leave their party for them.

line

According to PeaceFm;

The Council of Elders of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have come under a deluge of criticism for displaying, what many deem as bias in dealing with members who have allegedly brought the party into disrepute.

This assertion stems from the fact that Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku has been summoned before the highest advisory body in the party for questioning, following his call for a change in the party leadership, whereas, Hon. Ken Agyapong, the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, who is also one of the major financiers of the party, is ‘walking free’ after describing the entire hierarchy of the party as “thieves and corrupt”.

DID HE REALLY SAY THAT? Kweku Baako Says Kwame Nkrumah Is GREATER Than Mandela

Kwame Nkrumah

I respect Kweku Baako and he has the right to air his opinions like every other person.

But to suggest that, a dictator and champion of nepotism-Kwame Nkrumah, who had no respect for the rule of law as it can be clearly seen in his enactment of the Preventive Detention Act,  by any means is GREATER than Mandela—is pure absurdity.

Again, Kwame Nkrumah and Nelson Mandela belong to different era of time with different political situations, it is therefore even wrong to compare the two men.  Even if you decide to go ahead of a comparison, I do not see how Nkrumah would ever be greater than Mandela.

line

According to Graphic Ghana;

he Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako says Kwame Nkrumah was the greatest African.

He was contributing to a debate on whom of South Africa’s first black President, Nelson Mandela, and Ghana’s first President, Kwame Nkrumah, was the greatest African.

The debate, which has gained grounds since Mandela died last week, has divided many Ghanaians.

Mr Baako said while Mandela could be described as one of the greatest Africans, he did not measure up to Nkrumah.

“The greatest leader, for me, was Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah”, Mr Baako said on Peace FM’s ‘Kokroko’ on Wednesday.

Nana Akufo Addo Says No Court Case, No False Declaration In 2016

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

Whether Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will return as the 2016 presidential candidate for the NPP or not—no one seems to be sure, including himself. But one thing Nana Addo is sure about is that,  2016 election needs to be well watched by party supporters…

According to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, court cases can be prevented if party members take up the responsibility and challenge to ensure that no one has a yard to cheat or rig the election…

line

According to The Stateman;

The 20112 Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has reminded the leadership and membership of the party about the responsibility they have to make sure that in 2016 “we don’t have a court case or a false declaration.

In an apparent reference to the election petition that challenged the declaration of John Dramani Mahama as winner of the 2012 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo admonished his party faithful to ensure the ballot is protected in 2016 while making sure that the right declaration of the winner is made by the Electoral Commissioner to forestall any challenge of the declaration in the law courts.

He gave the advice when he delivered a speech at dinner organized by the Young Executive Forum in London.

According to Nana Addo, “It is clear that our opponents are good at being declared winners of elections but are bad at governing our nation. It means that whatever it takes, we have to make sure that at the next election, not only do we win it but are actually declared the winners. That is the responsibility before us.”

Victoria Hammah

Sacked from her position as a Deputy Communications Minister owning to the infamous Victoria Hammah gossip tape, the troubled former Minister of State is back in the news again—and this time, she is being accused of failing to stop when asked by a Traffic Police Officer who proceeded to SLAP her after she caused injury to officer…

With two contradictory stories coming from the Police Officer and Victoria Hammah, it is difficult to establish who is telling the truth. However, the truth remains; Victoria Hammah has had one hell of a nasty year.

According to DailyGuide;

Former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Lakshmi Hammah, is caught up in fresh drama, after a fracas with a police officer attached to the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) of the Ghana Police Service.

While the police officer claimed Victoria failed to stop as directed and had injured him in the process, the former deputy minister said she was given a hefty slap by the motor traffic cop who additionally called her “ashawo”, a derogatory term meaning ‘prostitute’ at a major intersection at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, close to the Neoplan Station last Thursday.
