The Samsung Smart Trade programme has experienced dozens of consumers in the country exchange their phones for brand new Samsung phones. The on-going promotion is taking place at selected authorised Samsung dealer shops and it is available for selected Samsung Smartphone models as well as other selected brands.

Reports from some of the Samsung authorized shops indicate that numerous people have taken this opportunity to quickly barter their old phones for new ones. Jaspreet Singh, Director for Handheld Products at Samsung stated that “We have realized that sometimes it is difficult for people to buy new phones not because they don’t want to, but because they find it difficult to get new funds to buy a completely new phone when they already have one. This promotion therefore gives them an easy way out as well as the perfect opportunity to carry the latest by trading in their old phones, top up and receive brand new ones.”

Samsung Opens 2nd Brand Shop in Tema

Samsung Electronics West Africa has partnered with Jobost Co. Ltd to open the second Brand Shop to serve the people of Tema and its environs. Following an earlier Brand Shop at the Melcom Plus Mall in Tema community one, the new Brand Shop, Samsung VIP which is located at Tema community 9 hopes to serve customers who live around the Tema Motorway, Communities 7 to 12, including customers in communities 22, 25,Kpone and its surroundings.

Samsung Electronics West Africa has announced its Smart Trade Programme that will enable customers to trade in old Smartphones for any new Samsung phone at a discount. From now to the 30th of August 2014, Smartphone users of Samsung and other brands can simply walk into any of the selected Samsung Experience Shop and trade-in their old phone.

“Devices will be graded on current condition, quoted and discounted based on three grading categories: perfect, good and non-functional/broken. Each grading category has explanatory definitions that allow for an accurate value to be attributed to the device that is being traded,” said Jaspreet Singh, Director for Handheld Products at Samsung.

Samsung Printers Receive Seven Awards for Outstanding Achievement from Buyers Laboratory

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd, today announced that its printers and Multi-function Printers (MFPs) have won seven awards for Outstanding Achievement at the Buyers Laboratory (BLI) 2014 Summer Pick Awards. The Xpress C1810/1860 series, M2835/2885 series, and the MultiXpress CLX-8640/8650 series were all recognized for their superior performance in the printing category.

In the hardware sector, five Samsung printers and MFPs were recognized for Outstanding Achievement. This includes the Xpress C1810/1860 series released earlier this year, which received the award for the Outstanding Personal Color Printer and MFP. With its full-color touchscreen, the device is able to simplify any printing task such as scanning, copying or downloading.

Samsung Launches a New ‘Selfie’ Competition

Leading Smartphone brand, Samsung, is giving every Ghanaian an opportunity to be the next face on the billboards of the newly released Galaxy K Zoom. Dubbed “R U K Zoom Selfie Ready”, the new competition seeks to give users and hopeful users of the Galaxy K Zoom the opportunity to have the ultimate ‘Selfie’ experience and become famous.

Explaining the dynamics of the competition, the Director for Mobile at Samsung Electronics West Africa, Jaspreet Singh said that the competition would require users of the phone to take beautiful ‘Selfies’ of themselves using the ‘Selfie’ Alarm feature of the Galaxy K Zoom phone, and post it on Samsung Social Media platforms to stand the chance of featuring on a Samsung billboard. Interested persons who do not have the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom can also take part in the competition by visiting the Samsung activation stand at the Accra Mall to also take a ‘Selfie’ and upload it onto the Samsung social media platforms.

Participants are required to upload their ‘Selfies’ with the ‘hush tag’ “#Kzoomselfie” to have their pictures selected. Pictures with 100 or more likes willbe selected for the finals and the overall winner will then have his or her ‘Selfie’ used for the Galaxy K Zoom billboard.

Samsung Announces Partnership with the GSMA and WHO in Mhealth for Africa

Samsung has joined the GSMA in an initiative harnessing mobile technology to reach 15.5 million pregnant women and mothers of young infants across Africa.

Thabiet Allie, Head of Content and Services at Samsung Electronics Africa, made the announcement at the Partnership for Maternal, New-born & Child Health Partner’s Forum held in Johannesburg South Africa in July. Allie said Samsung was proud to be one of the founding partners in the GSMA Mobile for Development Health programme which is an integral part of the United Nations ‘Every Woman Every Child Strategy’.

The partnership seeks to reach15.5 million pregnant women and mothers with young infants across the continent, who require access to healthcare services. The programme will be rolled out in two phases, the first phase will be launched in seven countries (Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, South Africa, Uganda and Zambia) from September 2014. The second phase will launch in 2015 when Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania will be added to the programme.

Samsung was proud to be involved with the programme from its inception, Allie said.
