Facebook-Workers

This is awkward as these cash making machine companies seem to be failing to understand that people are human beings and not robots—and procreation is essential part of our lives, far important career or work.

It’s been revealed that Facebook and Apple are offering women employees the chance to freeze their eggs– by paying for them, so they can have propose having babies and work.

“The extraordinary perk is aimed at boosting the number of women staff by allowing them to focus on their careers without sacrificing the opportunity to have children later in life” says MailOnline.

The two Silicon Valley giants are the first major employers to offer the procedure for non-medical reasons – and they are ready to pay £12,500 a time to cover the cost of putting the eggs on ice plus an additional £300-a-year for deep freeze storage.

The Reality of Life After the ‘Dream Wedding’

Wedding

Have you ever been to a wedding where you take it upon yourself to worry and have a little bit of ‘pity’ for the newly-weds (maybe because I’m empathetic)? The first question that crops into mind is …what are they going to eat and keep aside for rainy days?

People put themselves in so much financial mess because they’ve decided to have ‘seks’ and live together….legally/in an acceptable way. The fact that we can pay for something does not mean we can afford it.

Affordability is paying for something without even feeling the pinch afterwards. When couples go ‘sympathetically’ broke after their fantasy wedding – they simply couldn’t afford it. If you ask me, a wedding in itself is a liability if I need to squander all the little monies I have put away over a long period of time in one day. Unless of course my husband is extremely rich to give me that dream wedding…

Second Ebola Case Recorded in Dallas + Liberia’s Minister of Transport Under Quarantine After Her Driver Died From Ebola

Texas Hospital
Texas Hospital

A second health worker in the in Dallas, Texas has tested positive for Ebola, health officials say.

Just like the previous nurse-Nima Pham, this health worker also treated Liberian man Thomas Duncan, who died last week after becoming the first person diagnosed with Ebola in the US.

Meanwhile, nurse Nima Pham, has received a plasma transfusion donated by doctor-Kent Brantly who beat the virus few weeks ago.

Many African Americans on social media are of the view that, the statements which say Dr. Kent Brantly offered blood transfusion for Thomas Duncan as a cure but he was his blood type so it was not possible is not true and that he was left to die because he was black.

According to the UN’s Ebola mission chief, the world is falling behind in the race to contain the virus.

Currently, Liberia’s transport Minister has gone into quarantine after her driver died from Ebola—pretty scary.

Big Brother Shower Hour | When African Women Voluntarily SIGN UP to Be Insulted & Taint Others #EndBBAShowerHour

Censored
Censored

Apart from the Big Brother concept providing pure entertainment for viewers all around the world, I do personally see any other genuine benefits this reality TV has—except of course to the eventual winner and to the few other participants who may come out with some sort of stardom subsequent to certain gross violations of their personal dignity.

For the purpose of this discussion, I will narrow down the in-house happenings of the many versions of Big Brother to the one we have in Africa, popularly called Big Brother Africa (BBA) which has become an annual ‘something’ to look up to on the continent.

If you are one of the few people who think like me, you may probably have asked yourself what may push someone to be part of this sort of human experiment—that is what it is to me, and nothing more. Except that one person is given a chunk sum of money at the end of the experiment by virtue of the fact that people at their homes have voted for this person as the best in that experiment.

Do not be misled by the amount of dollars the organisers give out to the ultimate winner, the reality TV show is certainly one of the many tacky modern day businesses, being run by certain ‘smart’ people who may have more respect for money than other human beings writes Akosua Abebrese on BrutallyUncensored.Com.

I wouldn’t wholly blame the organizers for staging this unworthy human experiment which basically cages human beings (let’s say desperate human beings) in a house, and place cameras all around the house just for others to relax at their homes and watch these human beings live. Personally, I even struggle to find what is entertaining about watching other human beings sleep or just do whatever they do for about 2-3 months.

But the above is a decision individuals should be allowed to take—as to how they want to use their time, useful or for such things.

My real worry springs from how EXPLOITATIVE organizers of Big Brother Africa have become—and since I am a woman, I will take keen interest in how the integrity of female housemates is uninterrupted disrespected as part of the entertainment the show brings to viewers.

There is this bit of Big Brother Africa called-Shower Hour and this basically is; cameras are also put in the bathrooms for viewers to see the housemates take their shower. And interestingly, each year women participants despite knowing of these cameras take their showers totally NAKED—unmoved by morals or the disgraceful fact that the whole world may be watching.

Perhaps you will need to see a video from the shower hour (provided below) and you will clearly understand the sort of disrespect that these women allow themselves to be part of—all for this thing called fame or money.

We believe there is a general consensus that Yvonne Nelson has lost the beauty game to this extensive thin-ness, and she needs some BURGER to get back into what we may consider as “being beautiful”.

The actress says she is currently in London and looking at the below photo she shared, she definitely needs to head over to BURGER KING, better still, just get a job there.

High fashion mistress-Sandra Ankobiah is back here today, rocking her Versace shades—so she says. But we still think, no matter the brand, you must first look in the mirror before stepping out.

It’s Happening on Saturday-18 October in Accra | Wizkid, 2face Idibia, Mafikizolo, 4×4, Edem, MzVee & Others on ONE BIG Stage- Hennessy Artistry Concert

blank
Hennessy Artistry Concert

It’s definitely going to be a MEGA concert this Saturday, 18th October, 2014—as more than 5 top African musicians from Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana will mount one stage to thrill fans at the first Hennessy Artistry Concert in Ghana. You dare miss this once in a life time opportunity and you would have yourself to blame!

Any of these musicians-Wizkid, 2face, Mafikizolo, 4×4, Edem and MzVee can hold independent concerts and deliver bad-to-back electrifying performances but Hennessy has decided to pull some sort of a ‘clash of the best’ by putting them all on one stage for Ghanaian music lovers at the Accra International Conference.

Surely it must have cost Hennessy a fortune but as concertgoers, we don’t really care much about the cost—we are just excited about the opportunity to have these artistes rock our night.

And considering how much the tickets are going for, any of these artistes staging an individual concert would have charged the same—so this looks like buy one get 5 free for us, you wouldn’t find this anywhere.

From his 2006 hit song-African Queen to his 2014 releases, 2face will take patrons on a long but interesting musical journey, which has in many ways contributed to the recognition of African music at the international front.

And then, as we know, Wizkid never disappoints when on stage. With such exciting repertoire of hit songs, ranging from ‘Paurumo’ to ‘My Baby’, it’s just going to be a night to remember.

Wizkid and 2face have just performed together once— so it’s going to be very interesting to have the two of them on the same stage in Ghana, to perform their first collaborative track ‘Dance Go’.

Scientific Study Puts Ghana Next at Risk to Get Hit with Ebola

Ebola
Ebola

A study published by the Northeastern University in Boston has revealed that Ghana is the highest nation at risk of recording the next outbreak of the Ebola Virus.

The study was published on 6 October, but had been conducted earlier and had found that several nations in the West African sub-region, as well as some other nations with high international air traffic all stood at risk of recording the epidemic.

The countries at risk of transmission aside Ghana included The United States of America, United Kingdom, Nigeria, Belgium, Senegal, Mali, Gambia, Morocco, South Africa, Kenya, Lebanon, and Germany.

You might notice that the USA, Nigeria, and Senegal have all contracted the virus since the conduction of the study.

The study stated that these nations are likely to contract the virus by the end of October 2014.

The research gave three factors to calculate likelihood of transmission; passenger flow from area of outbreak, case numbers, and the duration of incubation time.

21st Century Woman…

Thelma Louis
Thelma Louis

I was feeling very h*rny but I was also feeling very lazy. And I didn’t want to lift a very heavy thigh. I managed to raise my hand and laid it carelessly across his chest. And like clock work his eyes opened.

It really was easy getting a man’s attention I thought. One of the reasons I was definitely coming back a woman, or better still a 21st Century Woman.

I loved my friend Sandra. She was all Ghanaian, born in James Town, British Accra lol, but bred in the United Kingdom of Great Britain, London since age twelve.

So even though Sandra hadn’t come home in almost fifteen years, girlfriend had stayed true to her Ghanaian-ness. She spoke and understood some broken Ga, loved her kenkey and fish from kenkey house and her favorite Ghanaian song was still ‘Aben wo ha’. Trust me I had told her a zillion times Ghanaians had moved on to Sarkodie and recently a slightly crazy one… uhm… oh Shatta Wale.

There was little wonder why Sandra was over the moon to come back home during the 2012 Christmas. She never stopped talking about it and honestly her friends who lived in London but had come for the occasional Christmas’ and funerals were getting tired of her ranting.

Yeah so they had enjoyed the attention the Ghanaian men gave them when they realized they were visitors in town, and the fact that everybody wanted to do things for them at family gatherings, the parties, the food, the azonto, the rasta, the weed… Oh lets not forget the fact that when they changed the mighty pound sterling to cedis they pretty much owned the town. They loved the pecks but they still hated the bad roads, the dumso’s were particularly annoying and the constant money-begging scenario was a real nightmare.

Still Sandra was the happiest person in the world traveling to a West African Country that Christmas.

I picked her up at the airport; she was in awe most of the time. She didn’t quite know what to expect so she basically just soaked it all in. Next day I went back for her at nine in the evening for a party. As usual she got all the attention on arrival. Later a man walked up and asked her to dance. She got right to it. I was a little confused at the speed at which she accepted the dance. Our Ghanaian ladies style was to decline at first and then get coxed into it gradually and then perhaps when the man got down on his knees we would… uhm go and move a muscle.

Ghanaian Actors Turned Producers Talk About What Motivated Them to Venture into Movie Production | Are Their Reasons Plausible?

Kafui Danku
Kafui Danku

It’s natural for every human being to desire to progress in life. In every profession, a great number of people strive very hard to climb the success ladder—as it is with other professions, so it is with the movie industry.

The new crop of actors we currently have are transitioning from being just actors to producers – working behind the scenes more often. This new challenge has raised quite a number of questions.

Many are of the view that actors who venture into production are the ones who are not getting desire roles; therefore they set off with their own productions and cast themselves.

It should be noted that actors like Charlie Chaplin, Mel Gibson, and others all evolved from their roles as actors to producers and directors so it’s not all that new when Ghanaian actors ply the same route. However, the market structures of Hollywood, Bollywood, and other movie industries are completely different from ours.

At a time when our movie industry (Ghollywood to be specific) seems to be on the verge of collapsing, it is the same time that quite a number of Ghanaian actors are diverting their attention from acting to producing and directing their own movies.

We have seen the likes of Van Vicker, Eddy Nartey, Kafui Danku, Nadia Buari, Juliet Ibrahim, Lydia Forson, Yvonne Nelson, Ama K. Abebrese, Nana Ama McBrown, Yvonne Okoro and others produce their own movies.

MUST WATCH VIDEOS: Is EBOLA Man Made?…The DEBATE

Is Ebola Man Made?
Is Ebola Man Made?

It looks like things have moved out of the conspiracy world to a corner where certain well educated Africans and African-Americans like Dr. Randy Short are more than certain that EBOLA was created the USA government—and they claim to have documents/patent papers to back their assertion.

In a recent debate (4th October) on Press TV, the question; is EBOLA Man made was considered and it is definitely a must watch.

Interestingly, instead of the United States’ President-Barrack Obama deploying doctors to Africa to help fight EBOLA, he has deployed thousands of troops—making people ask; what for?

After watching the videos, tell us what you think. Do you believe this new EBOLA was created by the US government? And what have you heard so far from other sources or debates?

Time to Let Go the WEAVE? | Some Weaves From China to Africa Contain ‘Goat Hair’

Weave

These days societal prestige somehow inexplicably has become tied up with the cost of your weave-on. I don’t know when or how it started, but that is the norm these days and our ladies never shy away from getting the most expensive weave they can get their hands on.

Whilst better people than me have gone on rants about how we can tie all our self worth into the type of (other people’s) hair we can put on our head, it seems now to keep up with the insatiable demands of the business, people in China have resorted to adding goat hair to the weaves they export to Africa.

The BBC made a whole report on it, which confirms that goat hair is now a crucial ingredient in the weave-on industry down there. The merchants who buy it and bring it down here to sell know, but they buy it anyway because of the market for it; and I suspect most of us down here also know, or at the very least suspect, but buy anyway.

Unsurprisingly, it also confirmed that Africa is the biggest hair market now. One shopkeeper said most of their business used to be with Europe; now, almost exclusively African buyers.

Big Brother Hotshots Shower Hour Update: Sheilah From Botswana Shows ALL Her Goods to All of Africa

Sheilah Big Brother Africa
Sheilah Big Brother Africa

We all love Big Brother shower hour. Mainly because we get to peep at a bit of the n*kedness of some of our favourite housemates and feed our eyes on a bit of their goodies. I know because I do this with the guys. Those I have crushes on. I watch till midnight just so they can get careless and show me small.

I am however not too keen on seeing it all so I was shocked to see Sheila bare it all in the shower without a single care. The b*oty too is big! She even had a guy, Nigeria’s Tayo bathing right next to her. My goodness!

She could have even kept her panty on, covered up a little or kept herself in one position that covers her a little. I am tempted to think this was so deliberate because she kept turning around for us to see it all very well and viewers across Africa must have indeed feasted their eyes.

BIG BROTHER HOTSHOTS: Resa & Mira Evicted

Resa & Mira Evicted
Resa & Mira Evicted

Zambia’s Resa and Mozambique’s Mira became the first two housemates to be evicted from Big Brother Hotshots on Sunday 12 October, after the first week which saw the housemates going all-out to impress the continent with their Hotshot talents.

All the housemates, excluding Laveda, who won the title of Head of House after scoring highest with the studio audience during the talent show, were up for eviction this week. Africa voted, and with twelve housemates failing to win a country vote, the tie-breaker rule came into effect. The end result, independently verified by auditors SizweNtsalubaGobodo, was that Resa and Mira had drawn the least support from the continent, and were sent home.

It was a busy first week, with the housemates getting to know each other and delving into their first challenges. They won their first task advertising their Hotshots talents with posters, impressing Big Brother with their skills. Cliques formed, the first signs of mischief caused a stir and some housemates got quite close. Mira planted kisses on Luis and Nhlanhla during the very first party and Idris and Goitse hooked up just about immediately, though they’re playing it cool.

‘Double Cross’ Featuring Ama K Abebrse, John Dumelo, Adjetey Anang & Others to Be Premiered in London On Friday-31 October | It’s A Must WATCH

Doube Cross-Ama K Abebrese
Doube Cross

Surely, a movie featuring African Movie Academy Awards’ Best Actress-Ama K. Abebrese, talented actors-John Dumelo and Adjetey Anang wouldn’t need multiple endorsements before you realize it is going to stand tall amongst the best African movies ever seen…

On Friday-31st October, 2014 in London at the Greenwich Odeon Cinema (8pm), African movie lovers will have the opportunity to see the above named actors and several other talented actors take up the challenge in Double Cross—as they tell the story of a streetwise programmer whose life turns upside down at a red carpet premiere to be attended by the stars.

For the start, we get to see something totally different and yet interesting as we break away from the usual African movie stories mostly dominated by witchcraft and unrealistic romance—therefore you cannot miss this premiere.

Double Cross does not only push the storyline frontier higher, it also brings together some of the best actors we have in Africa to play central roles in telling the story—making it a movie worth a watch.

In Double Cross “Effie Howard (Ama K. Abebrese) a streetwise programmer’s life is dramatically turned upside down when her fiancé Ben Boateng (Adjetey Anang) is convicted and sentenced for a bank robbery he did not commit. Determined to prove his innocence; she carried out her own investigation and finds the actual robber; Danny Frimpong (John Dumelo) a calm and collected sophisticated genius of a thief who has a personal vendetta against the bank he robbed Neptune Bank International. He robbed the bank using urbane technology which enabled him to enter, steal and exit the bank leaving everyone mystified as to how the theft was carried out, no witnesses, no evidence, yet the money is gone.

John Dumelo in Double Cross
John Dumelo in Double Cross

She meets Danny and threatens him but later offers him a deal; and it’s to rob the bank again with similar methods as the first so the authorities know the actual robber is still out there, then Danny will not lose what matters to him most and the reason for the bank robbery. She plans to relocate with the stolen money and start a new life with Ben when he is acquitted so as to get away from the stigma attached to ex-convicts and their families. They are successful in the robbing the bank, Effie now sets her sights on a jewellery warehouse and she wants Danny to rob it.

With a lot of jewellery and money at stake, each one of them tries to outwit each other with medleys of smart thinking as they plan and execute the robberies. They meticulously plan the robberies, but no amount of careful planning or expertise can prepare them for the dangerous enemy, an enemy Effie least expected and never saw coming; an unexpected turn of events on the day of the robbery, what happened”

Chris Brown’s Two Cents on The Ebola Issue: Agrees with Those Who thinks It’s Population Control

Chris Brown

Chris Breezy has stirred up some sh*t this morning, revealing his thoughts on the Ebola epidemic sweeping across West Africa; and a lot of people are not going to be happy with the popular RnB star.

The Loyal hitmaker hit twitter this morning to give his take on the issue, and somewhat surprisingly, he is in the camp of those who believe the epidemic might be a form of population control.

A certain hypotheses is going round that this all epidemic might be an intentional gimmick by the powers that be, releasing the virus in certain African countries to check their unstoppable population growth. The theory has more supporters than you might think.

A Prophecy to Mark Down: Ebola to Hit Ghana Any Time Between Now and November Says the Archbishop Duncan Williams

Archbishop_Duncan-Williams
Archbishop_Duncan-Williams

Founder and Leader of the Christian Action Faith Ministries, Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, has a very dire warning for us the people of Ghana: the ‘demonic’ disease Ebola is right on our doorstep and we need to get ready.

The pastor made the pronunciation during the church service to his congregation and as reported by Starrfmonline.

According to him, he received a very a very special visit from God, and after some stimulating conversation the revelation was made to him.

“I was resting and at 1am, the Spirit of the Lord woke me up and He said: ‘Are you sleeping?’ And I said: ‘Yes I’m sleeping’, and He said: ‘Wake up!’ So I did and He said: ‘You have to go into prayer because the Ebola virus is looking for a door to enter your country between October [and] November’. So I’m telling you, you can write it down. I don’t just say things”

The Archbishop went on to describe how he gave the same warning in Liberia, and that based on his 38 years experience in ministry, he believes he has built enough credibility for people to take this warning seriously.

Interestingly, he touched on some of the conspiracy theories people bandy about behind the source of this outbreak, but also said that is not particularly his priority. The priority is to get Ghanaians prepared for a disease killing people on such a level, that it can only be described as demonic.

Christian Myth #1: You Need the Grace of God to Succeed

Myths
Myths

It is our daily bread down here in Africa, our alpha and omega. It is the public refrain of everyone, from half baked Christians to butt kissing politicians and money seeking pastors; it is the biggest myth in the history of mankind.

I refer of course, to the sentence “you need the grace of God to succeed”. I often complain about our overreliance on religious intervention in our lives, something we do to the detriment of hard work and logical reasoning. But quite often one can look the other way because it is a matter of subjective choice, based on what one believes or does not believe. What cannot happen is for someone to state it as a matter of objective fact.

That is the cardinal sin committed by pastors of this era, and which has been compounded by one Rev Dr Boadi Nyamekeye, according to this piece on myjoyonline.

Here’s what he said, quoted verbatim “No matter what or who you are, if you don’t glide on the wings of God, you will fail. In our socio-economic turbulence you need the grace of God to succeed”

Firstly I get why pastors say that, after all you need to keep your congregation hooked so they keep coming back for more. Though in the past people were lured based on a better life in the aftermath of this earthly existence (the basis of Karl Marx’s ‘opium of the masses’ hypothesis); the shift in recent times is to promise success here on earth, and that simply cannot happen because all evidence points to the contrary.

If this pastor’s position was true, all the rich or relatively successful people would be Christians, and all the poor in society would be those who does not follow the tenets of the religion.

The situation on the ground is far from that, and indeed for centuries sociologists and anthropologists have found that it’s often the poor, downtrodden and exploited in society who seek religion as a refuge.

Besides one does not need decades old scientific data to spot the flaw in this thesis. The world is full of successful people of all colours, religious and non religious alike. In fact, most of the western world have moved to a more secular existence, with religion used as a public facade but rarely practiced seriously; yet most of these countries are ten times more successful than Ghana, ‘the most religious nation in the world’.

Guinea 1-1 Ghana: First Black Stars Game After Kwesi Appiah’s Exit ends in Disappointing Draw

Asamoah Gyan-Captain of Black Star
Asamoah Gyan-Captain of Black Star

The Syli Nationale of Guinea grabbed a late equaliser to peg the Black Stars back to 1-1in Casablanca as Ghana failed to take a commanding lead in African Cup of Nations Qualifying Group E.

Asamoah Gyan’s early opener looked to have secured all three points for the Stars, but Ibrahima Traore had other ideas, his 81st minute thunderbolt leaving the Stars red faced as they could only manage a lethargic draw.

The game was held in the Morrocan capital because of the Ebola status of Guinea, which made it an unnecessary risk for Ghana to travel there.

This was the first game of Kwesi Appiah’s former assistant Maxwell Konadu, put in temporary charge following the dismissal of his former boss by the GFA last month.

And the former Asante Kotoko coach kept faith with the selections of his former boss, maintaining the same starting line up from the previous game, the 3-2 win in Lome which turned out to be Appiah’s last hurrah.

The team started brightly, eager to gain an early lead to enable them better control proceedings.

And Gyan gained the team exactly that comfort in the 28th minute, expertly controlling a slick through ball from Jordan Ayew to calmly fire past Guinea goalie Naby Yattara.

The Ayews, Gyan, and Kwadwo Asamoah were combining for some neat interplay but the Stars could not add to their tally.

The half ended in favour of Ghana, but Guinea came out more purposefully in the second half and had numerous opportunities to equalise, but somehow squandered them all.
