The 62nd anniversary of Ghana’s Independence Day which was celebrated on Wednesday, 6th March doesn’t seem to have inspired much confidence among Ghanaians. Almost every reaction to the celebration that we’ve seen has been a negative one.

German-based Ghanaian ‘borga’, Archipalago, has added his voice to the constant critiques of the Independence Day celebration, describing it as a useless celebration when Ghana is in such a terrible state.

Kumawood Independence Day Drama

Ghana marked its 60th Independence celebration with a colorful ceremony at the independence square with Robert Mugabe among other Diplomats in attendance.

Amidst the occasion, Agya Koo led a Kumawood troop to stage a play on the importance of girl child education and it’s connection to Ghana’s independence and development. Apart from comments that Robert Mugabe slept during that performance, theater pundits have emerged to criticize the showmanship of the troop.

Ghanaians and the entire African continent if the not world have been waiting to hear from the 93-year-old Zimbabwean President, Robert Mugabe after he made a surprising appearance to join the 60th Independence celebrations of Ghana.
