A few days before Captain/Major Maxwell Mahama was murdered at Denkyire-Obuasi, another security personnel, a police officer-Lance Corporal Robert Ackah was killed my a police patrol team who mistook him for an armed robber on the Kintampo-Tamale road.

Though his death was not gruesome as Captain Mahama, he died protecting citizens who were under attack. Yet his family has just been handed 5000 GHS per reports.

34 Captain Mahama Suspects Charged With Murder–And Were Brought to Court Today

About 34 suspects have been arraigned before an Accra Circuit Court presided over by Justice Ebenezer Kweku Ansah, on Monday June 5, 2017 in relation to the lynching and murder of Captain Maxwell Mahama. The suspects have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and committing murder.

The 34 suspects have been remanded in police custody to reappear on 21st June,  after Prosecutor George Amegah told the court that the prosecution would need more time to conduct their investigations.

For many Ghanaians, the story that Captain Mahama was from or was going to jogging when he was lynched by the people of Denkyira-Obuasi did not add up.

It seems everyone is right to suspect that the truth is being hidden from us–as the initial story leaves us with more question than answers, as Chris-Vincent noted in a recent article.

Now, multiple social media users claim that, there has been a twist to the Captain Mahama story–and that late soldier was not jogging prior to his lynching as widely reported, but that he actually attended a meeting with galamsey leaders in the community.

Several people have been arrested in relation to Captain Mahama’s lynching and even those who were arrested having fled the town where he was killed all seem to claim to be innocent.

One person who was seen in the video throwing a big block at Captain Mahama has been arrested but he claims, though he threw a block at his shoulder–when he did it, the Captain was already dead.

He seems to say, how can he kill someone who was already dead and as such, has not committed or aided in any murder under the laws of Ghana.

Police Retrieve Captain Mahama’s Gun + What the Assembly Man Says Happened

The police have found Captain Mahama’s lost pistol which was on him at the time of the lynching.

After military men were dispatched to the Denkyira Obuasi town where Captain Mahama was killed on Tuesday for initial investigations and to retrieve the remains of the slain soldier, the soldiers said they would not leave the place until they were able to find their colleague’s pistol.

Yesterday, a guy suspected to be involved in the lynching, surrendered himself to the police, and also handed over a pistol which was identified as for Captain Mahama to the police, reported Graphic Online.
