Elections were held nationwide today to vote into office ten regional representatives to sit on the Council of State.
The President, as mandated by law, has named 14 members onto the body, and today’s polls chose ten more, one from each region, to join the council.
A member of the Council of State, Nana Kodua Kesse – has called on Ghanaians unhappy with the President’s decision to grant a pardon to the Montie 3 to send the matter to court if they wished.
Nana Kodua Kesse, who is the Oyokohene of New Juaben, was part of the Council’s deliberations which recommended a pardon to the President, who acted based upon that recommendation.
Ghana’s Council of State, after studying the petition presented to them by the President for advise, have decided to come down on the side of a pardon.
Local newspaper the Daily Post reports that after deliberating on the issue, the Council have decided that the President should show mercy and commute the sentences of the jailed Montie 3.
Days go by and the Montie 3 saga continues, unabated.
The President was recently presented with the signed petition calling for the release of the jailed three, and in keeping with his constitutional mandate, the President is seeking the advice of the council of state.
