The man who allegedly defiled a 4 year old girl in Assin Adadientem and was freed by the gods for seemingly being innocent has been arrested by police.
Identified only as Kwabena, he was arrested on Sunday, with the arrest announced by the Director of Police Public Affairs, DSP Sheila Kesse Abayie Buckman.
It wouldn’t be a trending story in Ghana, particularly one involving women and children issues, without Lydia Forson giving her two cents on it.
The actress is a fierce advocate for the vulnerable in society and she’s spoken out bitterly against the case of the defiled 4 year old girl in Assin Adadientem.
The issue of defilement is front and centre in Ghana currently due to a running story of a guy who defiled a 4 year old girl being shielded from justice by the chief of his town, who turns out to be his uncle.
Meanwhile, in South Africa, an alleged defiler has been stoned to death by a mob.
And we come full circle. Kwabena, the suspect accused of having defiled a four year old girl and who was ‘freed’ by the gods, is related to the chief of Assin Adadientem.
Ghana was shocked when the news broke that a man accused of defiling a baby had been let scot free after consultation with the gods because he had been declared innocent.
In 21st century Ghana, why are the ‘gods’ being used to settle such an important case and the culprit made to walk scot free?
It’s not like we have a criminal justice system exactly for such cases!
Dr Sulley Ali-Gabass, the doctor who was jailed for defiling a 16 year old boy a few years ago, has revealed that he misses being able to celebrate the Eid with his family every Ramadan.
The doctor, who’s serving a 25 year jail term for the crime, said whilst they are allowed to celebrate the festivities inside, it does not compare to what happens on the outside.
