In a recent time of the new NPP government, some part of Ghana has experienced an intermittent power supply and accordingly, some people have bitterly complained about the fear of the possible return of Dumsor. An energy supply canker during the infamous Mahama era that the NPP promised to fix when given the mandate.

Good news from myjoyonline.com is that Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko has announced the end of the “intermittent power outages”, following a successful new deal the government has reached with Ivory Coast to increase its power supply to Ghana despite the US$60 million debt accrued by the country.

According to a GhanaCelebrities.Com reader-Stella who lives around the Weija Mall in Accra, she woke up at dawn two days ago to see her fridge on fire with smoke everywhere—caused by Dumsor.
The upset reader claims she went to sleep in Dum (without light) and she thinks when the light came on later that night, her fridge which was on caught fire—something that has reportedly happened to several other people in the past.
Dumsor is back, though the President claims it’s not really so—and from lost of human lives to properties that we saw last year, it has once again started its destruction.

After the president’s assurance that this very canker that started knocking on our doors would end soon, I for one could not be any happier; but after last night and what I woke up to today, my deepest dread has been confirmed. MTN Ghana Threatens To Increase Tariffs Due To Erratic Power Supply In The Country

Telecommunication Giant MTN Ghana is considering to increase it’s tariffs due to high of operational cost which is cause by the ongoing erratic power supply in the country.

The company mentioned that fuel, electricity and others have been increased to over 37% and 45%, hence they will consider increasing prices of it’s services if unstable supply of electricity continues.

Cynthia Lumar, The Corporate Services Executive of MTN Ghana told Citi News that “the current business atmosphere is a difficult time for all of us, but for a leader like MTN, we cannot afford deprive customers of the 24 hour quality voice and data services because of ‘dumsor.”
