Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and his PPP won the appeal case brought by Ghana’s Electoral Commission against them in the Supreme Court—over a ruling by the High Court that asked the EC to give Nduom the opportunity to amend or alter mistakes on nomination forms which led to him being disqualified.
The Supreme Court ordered the Electoral Commission to extend the nomination period to the close of Tuesday, November, 8 2016 for all disqualified presidential aspirants. PPP flagbearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom says it would be impossible to have free and fair elections in Ghana this year, what with the referee engaged in a conflict with some of the players on the pitch.
Dr Nduom was one of 12 candidates disqualified by the EC from contesting this year’s polls, citing irregularities in their filing documents.
