A host of UTV’s Telenovela segment and a newscaster on one of Ghana’s popular FM stations, Peace FM, Adwoa Yeboah Agyei has advised Ghanaian celebrities to avoid bringing their private lives on social media.
According to her, celebrities are to learn how to respect themselves which is the only way to prevent others from saying bad things about them.
On several occasions, I have actually taken time of my busy schedule to wonder where most of our self-acclaimed and wannabe Ghanaian celebrities got their arrogance and pomposity behaviours from.
Many of our Ghanaian so-called celebrities acts as if they are gods who live in their own world, and for that reason, no one should have the guts to question them on whatever they do, the reason why at many times their careers die prematurely.
A few days ago one SnapChat user @FatP**055 made some damning allegations against some female Ghanaian celebrities and their modus operandi during their usual expensive vacations in foreign countries especially in the United Arab Emirates, Dubai.
Even though they were mere allegations but in reality, there is an iota of truth in those damning allegations looking at how some of these female celebrities even though have no real jobs yet flaunt the luxurious cars and plush apartments on social media for the usual ‘likes and comments’ ‘madness’.
If you are an ardent follower of activities that happen on social media, you will not be surprised at all that savagery is the order of the day. Savage replies and comments are what actually makes social media fun to be.
Ghanaian celebrities are a category of people on social media who mostly or often suffer from social media trolls. Most at times they ignore whatever attacks are thrown at them but when they are pissed, they savagely reply with venom.
It is that time of the year again where all and sundry take pride in showing love to important people in their lives. Yes, it is Valentine’s day and a lot of people are showing massive love.
In the 21st century, social media has been the major place that people choose to show love and appreciation to all manner of people for various reasons and it is no different when it is Val’s day.
Some Ghanaian celebrities have taken to social media, Instagram precisely to post some throwback photos of themselves a decade ago ─and all we can say is God has been good!
The like of Princess Shyngle, Juliet Ibrahim and the likes have all posted some of their 2009 photos on Instagram with the hashtag #10yearschallenge ─sending messages to their fans that they’ve really come a long way.
Some Ghanaian prophets have been constantly tormenting the lives of Ghanaian celebrities by predicting their early deaths which the majority of social media users are very uncomfortable with it.
Surprisingly, none of these numerous doom prophecies has ever been directed to any of the family members of these self-acclaimed men of God.
Perhaps it’s a global issue: celebrities may seem to have everything or a lot more than the ordinary people, but they have a serious life-long deficiency—when it comes to those they can trust and call true friends.
Life without great relationships and friendships would mean little to nothing to a lot of us. Imagine you not having any strong connection with those you call friends—or in earnestness, you doubting yourself every day if those who hang out with you are truly your friends.
Over the years, I’ve come to realize a lot of our Ghanaian Celebrities have become attention seeking freaks, exigent for attention, especially on social media. It’s as if the LIKES they receive on social media somewhat turn to spendable cash in their bank accounts—as they’ve become extremely obsessed with this.
Ask yourself this: who are the true friends of your favourite Ghanaian celebrities? We’ve seen attempts by a few of them to hold together friendships which break down just as quickly as they are formed—mostly over absurd matters.
I’ve worked and been around several of these celebrities for so long to realize that, their biggest problem, probably an epidemic eating into their sanity daily is that, they lack genuine friends and have no proper relationships with anyone beyond their close family circles.
Of course, having your family around you is great. But family alone is not enough. There comes a time you’ll need friends—those who can look into your eyes and tell you the truth or those you can rely on for the sort of human validation that is so widespread among our celebrities.
