The Progressive People’s Party (PPP), the only plausible political alternative to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ghana has on Saturday, June 2, 2018 launched its UK’s Midland’s branch at an event attended by the party’s founder, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom.

At the launch, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom affirmed the new Midland’s executives and assured the party’s branch of his support—while calling on them to change the narrative by educating their people in Ghana on the urgent need to consider the PPP for not just what it has long stood for but what it would do for Ghanaians if voted into power.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and his PPP won the appeal case brought by Ghana’s Electoral Commission against them in the Supreme Court—over a ruling by the High Court that asked the EC to give Nduom the opportunity to amend or alter mistakes on nomination forms which led to him being disqualified.
The Supreme Court ordered the Electoral Commission to extend the nomination period to the close of Tuesday, November, 8 2016 for all disqualified presidential aspirants. The court also ordered a suspension of all lawsuits challenging the EC’s disqualifications of flagbearers, for all those affected to amend the errors on their forms.

PPP flagbearer Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom says it would be impossible to have free and fair elections in Ghana this year, what with the referee engaged in a conflict with some of the players on the pitch.
Dr Nduom was one of 12 candidates disqualified by the EC from contesting this year’s polls, citing irregularities in their filing documents. Yet despite securing a victory at the Accra High Court, who ordered the party to be reinstated – the Commission has dragged the case to the Supreme Court, hoping to have the lower court’s decision quashed.
