Yesterday was another history-making day for the Ghanaian music industry as the Shatta Movement team boss, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr shuts down the city of Dusseldorf in Germany with his Reign Concert.
The Dancehall King has been embarking on a European Reign Concert tour after holding a successful Reign Album launch and Concert in Ghana about a month ago.
The event was a huge success as the leader of the Shatta Movement sold out the O2 arena to the amazement of a lot of music lovers across the world. The 3,400 capacity auditorium was filled to the brim.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr aka Shatta Wale began his Reign Album world tour yesterday in faraway London as he made history and proved to the world that he is one of the biggest musicians ever to have emerged from Africa.
Shatta Wale kicked off his Reign Album world tour at London’s iconic Indigo O2 Arena and sold out the auditorium, pulling over four thousand people from all the corners of London. He was in London to perform with two of his militants, Joint 77 and Addiself.
About a month ago Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr aka Shatta Wale launched his much-anticipated album christened the Reign Album. The album was launched with all the pomp and pageantry it deserves and a successful concert was organized in honour of the album.
Shatta Wale, his Shatta Movement Empire and his record label Zylofon Media have piled up a wide range of international shows to promote the Shatta Wale brand and push hard the Reign Album. So yesterday he flew from Ghana to London to play the first Reign Album concert outside Ghana. The show is scheduled to happen at the Indigo 02 Arena.
The ‘Asuoden god’ and Shatta Wale were almost like Siamese twins ─simply put, they were inseparable. These two guys were seen almost everywhere together. They featured themselves on chart-topping tracks that got almost everybody in this country on their dancing feet.
During the launch, he surprised his baby mama, Shatta Michy by proposing marriage to her which she accepted. The two had been separated for sometime before the launch of the Reign Album and many people thought they will never be together due to the time interval at which they were not together. The marriage proposal came as a shock to most of his fans.
These two artists are like the Tom and Jerry cartoons from our childhood, two people occupying the same space and yet always trying hard to knock each other down, but every once in a while also pretend to be friends.
It’s really getting tiring always listening to their childish grudges against the other.
Most of our Ghanaian female celebrities keep doing the same thing over and over again and sometimes we become even tired of them but for our avid readers and followers who are always looking forward to feasting their prying eyes on beautiful things we will continue to bring it to them as and when it drops.
Shatta Wale’s “Reign” album launch undoubtedly is the biggest album launch ever in the history of the Ghanaian music industry ─with closed to 20,000 patrons in attendance.
One of the shocking moment on the night was when a married couple, Mr and Mrs Sleg walked on the stage and bought the first copy of the album for Ghc150,000, 1.5 billion old cedis ─even though the auction price was Ghc100,000.
William Asiedu, President of Arts and Tourism Writers Association of Ghana (ATWAG) has asserted that Sarkodie’s freestyle diss track titled “My Advice” was a strategy to promote Shatta Wale’s anticipated ‘Reign Album’.
The ATWAG President in an interview on Starr FM’s “Morning Zoo” show with Giovani opined that a few days before the launch, there was no publicity for the “Reign” Album.
The album will be officially launched at the Fantasy Dome, Trade Fair Centre, La with tickets going for Ghc20 and 50. His album with 17 tracks has only one collaboration which is the 9th track “Wonders” featuring Nigerian musician Olamide.
Last month Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr aka Shatta Wale was on a radio tour in Accra and Kumasi, massively promoting and creating awareness and buzz about his upcoming second studio album after his musical hiatus of about 10years. The album is titled “The Reign” and it is set to be officially launched and outdoored on 13/10/2018 at Fantasy Dome, Accra.
Throughout his “Reign” Album radio tour both in Kumasi and Accra, Wale took every opportunity available to him to discredit almost every single musician in Ghana from Samini, Stonebwoy, Kwaw Kesse and the strangest of all Sarkodie. Sarkodie’s own I describe as strange because everybody in the industry knows Sarkodie and Wale to be the best of friends so we did not know why he continues to attack him from one radio to the other that he is poor, his career is dead, he supports Nigerian artists more than Ghanaian artists etc
Self proclaimed dancehall king Shatta Wale became the object of social media ridicule Wednesday after Sarkodie for the first time ever went in pretty hard on him without holding back, Shatta style.
Shatta Wale is the one person in the industry we know doesn’t care about what he has to say to hurt others and in ‘My Advice‘, Sarkodie put on his Shatta Wale cloak for four minutes and completely dressed Wale down.
Ghanaian controversial Dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has been riding on controversies to sell his brand and music ever since he bounced back from his musical hibernation. He is always on the neck of other musicians tagging them as poor and calling them all sort of unpleasant names just to ‘beef’ with them and trend.
