Businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome appeared before the Supreme Court of Ghana today (Monday) as his long awaited oral examination started.
Deputy Attorney-General Godfred Dame lead the examination of the businessman, who was represented by lawyer Ken Anku.

Supreme Court Throws Out Woyome Appeal
The Supreme Court of Ghana has thrown out the case brought by Alfred Agbesi Woyome calling for a decision for him to be orally examined by the Attorney General to be overturned.
Woyome argued that they’re seeking a review of the judge’s ruling granting the application thus the oral examination should be halted until the review’s complete.
Catholic Bishop Conference – Gitmo 2 Should Be Sent Back To US
The Catholic Bishops Conference has called for the Gitmo 2 to be sent back to the US on the back of the Supreme Court decision ruling their stay unconstitutional.
President of the Conference, Reverend Philip Naameh, said in light of the ruling, the pair cannot continue their stay in Ghana.

Kwesi Pratt Jnr., the managing editor of the Insight newspaper, has called on government to send the Gitmo 2 back to the United States immediately.
Speaking on Kokrokoo on Friday, Pratt said per the Supreme Court decision, the stay of the duo in the country is unconstitutional and should be remedied immediately.
STATEMENT: Government Responds To Supreme Court Ruling On Gitmo 2
Government has responded to Thursday’s landmark Supreme Court ruling with a statement, acknowledging the ruling and its directives.
The statement, signed by Information Minister Mustapha Hamid, says government has ‘taken notice’ of the judgement, whilst also reassuring Ghanaians that the Gitmo 2 are comporting themselves and remain under surveillance.

In court today (Wednesday), the justices, after deliberating on the decision, again failed to reach a verdict.

Supreme Court is Considering Suits Brought Before It to Re-arrest ‘Montie Three’
The Supreme Court of Ghana is currently considering three lawsuits brought before it to re-arrest the infamous ‘Montie three”–who were pardoned by President Mahama after they were sentenced to prison for threatening members of the court and also threatening to rape the Chief Justice Mrs Georgina Theodora Wood.
According to a report by JOY FM, Nana Asante Bediatuo, one of the plaintiffs of the suits “is convinced that the presidential pardon granted the three was unconstitutional.”

The Supreme Court has placed a dampener on Government’s ability to conduct business with a judgement freezing its accounts over its failures to settle a judgement debt.

Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom and his PPP won the appeal case brought by Ghana’s Electoral Commission against them in the Supreme Court—over a ruling by the High Court that asked the EC to give Nduom the opportunity to amend or alter mistakes on nomination forms which led to him being disqualified.
The Supreme Court ordered the Electoral Commission to extend the nomination period to the close of Tuesday, November, 8 2016 for all disqualified presidential aspirants. The court also ordered a suspension of all lawsuits challenging the EC’s disqualifications of flagbearers, for all those affected to amend the errors on their forms.
