The ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ concert is largely regarded as a musical showdown of sorts to establish supremacy between two countries whose musical trends have continuously influenced and rivaled each other in every way. If indeed, the concert is a showdown, then last year’s edition was judged by many industry pundits as being a unanimous victory in favor of the Ghanaian artistes who excited the most with their performances on the night. This year therefore, the Naija acts are pledging to bring their best performances to bear on the night. In typical Nigerian fashion, top Naija acts featuring on the bill have stated emphatically that come the night of 30th June, 2012, they will outclass their Ghanaian counterparts. The Nigerian acts billed to perform include African hip-hop heavyweight, MI, his Chocolate city label mate and crooner Brymo whose hit single ‘Ara’ is one of the most heavily rotated songs on local radio and on the club scene. Another Nigerian artiste taking Africa by storm, Davido, who has yet to perform his hit club banger ‘Dami Duro’ on any stage in Ghana. Also billed to take the stage in Ghana for the first time will be Don Jazzy’s leading lady and Nigeria’s finest female act of the moment, Tiwa Savage, who has three hit songs on heavy rotation in Ghana and Africa ’Kelekele’, ‘Love Me’ and ‘Oma Ga’.

The awards’ Board disqualified the song because after voting, they came to a consensus that the song contains sexually explicit lyrics and violence. According to the same Board which is made up of industry professionals, several songs which contain sexually suggestive lyrics were not axed because they were not explicit. However, R2Bees as artistes have been nominated in the awards. They were nominated in the ‘Group of the Year’, ‘Hiplife/HipHop Artiste of the Year’ as well as the biggest prize of the night ‘Artiste of the Year’ categories. Many have said that if their song has been disqualified why then are they in the awards. Charter House, the organisers also argued that, even though the song has been axed from the awards, they [R2Bees] as artistes have been very vibrant in the year under review.
If you know Jeremie, then you will surely have issues with the way she throws out that fake accent. On radio, it even gets worse. There is a rumour that when America rapper Fabolous came to Ghana and she was interviewing him on YFM, it got dramatic and embarrassing when Fabolous could not hear anything she was saying as a result of her fake accent.
