In their first match against DR Congo in Port Elizabeth in the on-going Africa Cup of Nations 2013 in South Africa, the Black Stars of Ghana failed to protect their 2-0 lead in the first half and allowed their opponents to end the match in 2 all.

Italian based Ghanaian midfielders, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu and Kwadwo Asamoah opened the scores for Ghana whiles Tresor Mputu and Dieumerci Mbokani equalised for DR Congo.
