The movie industry in Ghana in general is deader than a doornail but if at least one part is thriving more than the other we all know Kumawood is doing better.
It has a bigger fanbase accross the country and releases movies on a more consistent basis than its english speaking counterpart.
However, according to top Kumawood star Nana Ama McBrown, even her own industry is also dead.
Speaking on Hitz Fm, McBrown said numerous factors in recent years have really handicapped the industry.
“Those days, I could I could have as many as four different scripts in a month, but it’s not like that anymore…it has collapsed. The speed in the work has reduced drastically,” she said.
“Now everything is on social media. There is Netflix and all that. Maybe we need to upgrade. This is not the time to give up. Are they ready to shoot that kind of movie that will go far? If we do a good movie, we can get the money back. It has gone down but we shouldn’t blame anyone…,” she added.
