The seven Presidential candidates contesting the 2016 elections are set to meet on Thursday, just five days before the keenly contested polls and sign an accord pledging their commitment to a peace deal.
According to an agreement reached between the Economic Community on West African States (ECOWAS), the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations and the major parties, each candidate would append their signature to an accord to work towards a peaceful and open election.

In a statement, Haruna Attah, who used to be a staunch NPP follower before ‘defecting’ to the NDC, claims Nana Akuffo-Addo is the real tribalistic personality, claiming he once told him in a one-on-one conversation that a non-Akan would never lead the NPP.

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo, has hit back at President Mahama over some tribal comments he has been making in the North in the course of his campaign there – claiming he is willing to say and do anything so long as it would get him elected.
President Mahama raised more than a few eyebrows over the weekend when comments of his in the North deemed tribalistic surfaced – claiming that he pities Northerners who vote for the NPP as they are being used – and added that Dr Bawumia himself is being used and that he would never be allowed to lead the NPP.

Within the past few days, he has flown all over the place, sometimes claiming that the hardships we have faced these four years have been foundation laying for the coming prosperity, other times claiming those suffering these hardships are lazy people sitting in their rooms and not taking advantage of the opportunities he has provided.

Joy News presenter Manasseh Azure Awuni has written on the endless praise and adulation the NDC are handing themselves after completion of the new interchange at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle – and his conclusion is a simple one – “any idiot can borrow money and build projects”.
Manasseh argues in a piece tackling the issue that borrowing money to build such projects is not something to pat oneself on the back about, considering that nearly anyone can do that. What takes guts and initiative, he argued, is generating funds to carry out such projects so that a burden does not fall on the coming generations.
