I am all for standing up for your right to take what is due you—especially when corrupt officials want to undermine your thinking faculty and take you for a hoodwink but I am against violence.
Therefore, aside the confirmed attach on one of the Black Stars’ committee members by Sulley Muntari, I am proud he stood up against the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and stamped his feet down to claim what he is due at the time he wanted it.
According to the GFA boss-Kwesi Nyantakyi, Sulley Muntari and Kevin Prince Boateng together with a third person were the ‘gang’ leaders who masterminded the various boycott and ‘we want our money now’ campaign, which led to the Government of Ghana flying about 3 million dollar cash to Brazil this week for distribution among the footballers.
If Sulley Muntari was in fact banned indefinitely for this act of bravery (which it seems so as Kevin Prince Boateng was banned too), I will say, he is a hero for standing up for his right.
However, I am worried about the violence and the temper of Sulley Muntari—and I know several people have been talking about it too.
Sulley Muntari has shown on enough occasions that he has a very bad temper—and somewhat comes across as a man who will not think twice before launching a physical assault on anyone who pushes out his temper.
Against the above background, I am nervous about what happens back home when Sulley Muntari is alone with his wife-Menaye Donkor, when there are no cameras and people watching his actions.
Menaye Donkor recently stated in an interview that, Sulley Muntari is a total different person at home, compared to when on the pitch. But his recent assault on the GFA official was off the pitch—at a meeting, over money, during a discussion.
As a result, I do not believe Sulley Muntari has any proper control of his temper off the pitch as his wife seems to suggest, especially when he is at home—making him a total different person at home.
I am not saying he beats the hell out of his wife-Menaye Donkor but I am saying, I hope he does not do that considering what we know about him, his temper and what he is capable of doing.
A lot of nasty things happen behind closed doors when a man and a woman are left to their fate…

Occasionally, I read GC with hopes of familiarizing myself with Ghana’s entertainment industry. Over the past few weeks I’ve noticed the over emphasis on the life of Sulley and Menaye and their ‘alleged’ marital woes. This particular post is completely tasteless and unnecessary. It’s one thing to write about the supposed marital problems of a GH celebrity but to assume and suggest that the said celebrity is an abuser or is abusing his spouse is simply going too far. From what I have gathered, Chris you are known to be a very intellectual intelligent man I would hope someone with your intellect would refrain from making such defamatory suggestions. I will continue to read GC because I feel it is the only Ghanaian website that consistently and continuously provides Ghanaian entertainment news updates. However, this specific post was just unbecoming of a witty intelligent writer. #justsaying
Really? What is defamatory about the post? Are you sure you understand what defamation is at all? It seems you have no understanding of defamation so let me tell you this—there is nothing defamatory here.
Also, where did I state for a fact that he is an abuser? I am allowed to ask questions and considering Sulley’s temper, this is a relevant question and article.
I am sorry the post is tasteless to you, but there is no way we can all love the same thing all the time—it is surely tasteful to the others and myself. Please find the other posts which are tasteful to you and enjoy them. Not everything I write will necessary be tasteful to you.
I decide and write on issues that I find interesting, if for the next 1 year the life of Menaye and Sulley are interesting to me, I will continue to write on them. Of course, as usual, there will be other articles and if you don’t like to read posts on Menaye and Sulley, all you have to do is skip them and read the others….You can’t have it all.

You should respect the reader’s response which was eloquently expressed. I don’t know anything about law but common sense tells me that what you have written is a form of defamation. The emphatic word here is “doubt”. When people doubt they suspend judgement. When people suspend judgment it means they are unable to decide whether something is true or false or right or wrong. What you have written gravitates towards negativity, and raises the presumption that Muntari may be a domestically violent man as supposed to being a good husband. The gravity of negativity outweighs and supersedes any rightful intention you may have had when writing this piece, which is enough to brew a defamatory mindset causing people to view Muntari differently than they otherwise would. I call it disguised defamation. You are the lawyer so maybe you should tell your law people to add that to your books.
The fact is Law is not Common Sense so what common sense is telling you is WRONG. Something being negative does not mean it is defamation…For anything to be defamatory, certain elements must be present so no matter how offensive or negative you find something, without those elements, it will never be defamatory. Saying to someone who has assaulted another person or has a temper that, I hope you have never punched your wife or another person considering how you have behaved or your temper is NOT DEFAMATORY. I take time to respond to readers when I find their comments misleading and worth a response—and that is why I don’t reply every single comment. I don’t have the time for that but when I come across comments which I can correct or educate the person on something, it is always worth taking a minute to respond. Many appreciate such response!

I cant stand violence either…but the management should do their job well…I am sorry to say but how Ghanaian leaders behave…the commitee members are toooooo many….even I have worked with Ghanaians who are leaders…and they make you the worker feel like you are a piece of crap…pure arrogance…if you are a boss it doesnt mean you should disrespect someone below you…they boast aroun with their titles…what I heard about Muntari was that, he was asking that GFA officials who he was…and asked him to kindly go out as they are about to have a meeting…how come Muntari didnt know who that man is?
