Since same seks legalisation was carried out in the name of marriage equality, other people have decided they would try their luck now at legitimacy.

Case in point this man in Montana, who has decided to apply for a polygamy license since marriage equality is the norm now. According to him, marriage equality should cover him and his two wives as well.

One of the dissenting judges in the 5-4 ruling, Chief Justice John Roberts, noted in his ruling that the legal argument used to justify gay marriage could be used to justify other forms of marriage, such as polygamy.

It did not take this guy any time to try his luck.

According to CBS News

“A Montana man said Wednesday that he was inspired by last week’s U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing gay marriage to apply for a marriage license so that he can legally wed his second wife.

Nathan Collier and his wives Victoria and Christine applied at the Yellowstone County Courthouse in Billings on Tuesday in an attempt to legitimize their polygamous marriage. Montana, like all 50 states, outlaws bigamy – holding multiple marriage licenses – but Collier said he plans to sue if the application is denied.

“It’s about marriage equality,” Collier told The Associated Press. “You can’t have this without polygamy.”

County clerk officials initially denied Collier’s application, and then said they would consult with the county attorney before giving him a final answer, Collier said.”

Do you think he has a point?

  1. Of course, he has a point. If you allow gay marriage then where do draw the lines in not allowing other types and forms of marriage proposed by two or more consenting adults? For example, can an adult child of a parent marry that parent as along both of these adults agree to marry each other? Where do we draw the line?
