When the ‘Sakawa Boys’ brag about all the rituals and spiritual stuff they do to get their so-called powers, it’s just the smokescreen for their real jobs of sitting online for hours everyday looking for lonely, gullible people to swindle.
They are nothing but fraudsters with no empathy, who are possibly gullible enough themselves to enable a smart spiritualist also make some good money off them.
A 27 year old Evans Appiah in the US has been convicted of fraud for running an online love scheme targeted at both men and women, and swindling over $600,000 from his victims with promises of love.
Appiah, of Silver Spring, Maryland, searched dating profiles online and established relationships with them. He then requested for money to take care of so-called ‘emergency’ health or travel situations.
He set up several bank accounts for the money he swindled his victims out of, for the scheme he run from December 2013 through June 2015.
“Four victims testified at trial, including a recently divorced high school guidance counselor.” The Washington Post reported. “She paid Appiah $160,000, prosecutors said, for what he told her were emergency travel and health situations. Appiah had told the woman he was in love with her and would help raise her children.”
The federal jury that heard his case convicted him on charges of wire and mail fraud, conspiracy and aggravated identify theft. He is due for sentencing in August, and faces up to 20 years in prison.
