Asamoah Gyan failed his Reading medical, but that apparently had no negative effects on the deal, according to Wikipedia anyway.
The online encyclopedia still lists Gyan as a player of Reading, despite the deal never having even been made official in the first place.
“Asamoah Gyan (pronounced [æsæˈmoʊˌɑː ˌdʒjɑːn], ə-sah-moh-ah j-yahn, born 22 November 1985 in Accra) is a Ghanaian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Reading Football Club of the English Championship and captains the Ghanaian national team.” the opening of Gyan’s biography on the site reads as at this writing (15:20 GMT on Tuesday August 30)
Gyan failed his Reading medical hours ago.
This is nothing new, as people usually update the Wikipedia page of footballers once a deal to a new club seems imminent. And whilst Gyan’s move looked imminent on Monday, he failed the medical Tuesday, ending the planned move.
More than anything, this showcases Wikipedia’s biggest flaw, which is that anyone can edit. Be careful what you read on Wikipedia – which, by the way, is good advice for whatever you read on the internet in general.
