Iwan, Morris D’Voice, Eazzy, Nana Boroo & DBlack! Who Is Your Favourite ‘Discovery Of The Year’ 2011?

blank

Ghana music is growing or has grown from strength to strength with releases all the time. Also the numbers of artists keep increasing. The new artistes are doing a great job with singles and albums. This list contains 5 artistes, though there have been more releases, am tempted to say those other once are not good enough so far as am concerned.

GhanaCelebrities.com is 99.9% sure that the artists below are most likely to be nominated in the category ‘Discovery of the Year’ for the next Ghana Music Awards! Who is your favourite?

Let’s get talking! Where would your vote go? Plus whom amongst them do you think has a music future? It is …

Iwan

Iwan: The lyrical Gunshot made himself known to the Ghanaian public that indeed Dancehall is an accepted music genre in Ghana. For people who don’t know, Iwan is also a sound engineer and recorded most of the songs on his maiden album ‘My Time’.

He is the newest Bullhaus entertainer.

Favourite tracks on the album: ‘Still Love Me’, ‘Thanks & Praise’, ‘Run Away’ & ‘That Day’

Morris "Babyface" D'Voice
Morris "Babyface" D'Voice

Morris D’Voice: The known sound engineer released his maiden album ‘Home & Away’ which has a blend of songs. The 19 track album has great songs, great stuff to be honest. It has songs from three different music genres; RnB, Hip Hop and High Life. If you are musically inclined, you won’t regret for purchasing this album.

Favourite tracks on the album: All the songs (wink wink). It is difficult to pick any song from this album, because all the songs are too good. If Morris can get lots of performances, then I predict that the ‘Album of the Year’ is for his taking. Great songs on the great album.

blankEazzy: The first lady of the youngest/award winning record label in Ghana, Lynx Entertainment also released her maiden album ‘Twinkle’ and the response she received was positive and encouraging.

She is backed by guys (Lynx Entertainment) who know what beat and good punch lines means in music.

Favourite tracks on the album: ‘Wengeze’, ‘Get Into My Pants’ & ‘Bo Wonsem Ma Me’.

Nana Boroo
Nana Boroo

Nana Boroo: Nothing was known about Nana Boroo until the controversy with SK Blinks sets in, which I believe has helped him as an artist. A lot of people believe SK contributed about 70% to the fame ‘Aha Ye De’ received.

Nana Boroo has a good song and he is the only artist on this list to have had enough performances from the time the song was released. Home boy’s performances on the stage are awful.

blankD-Black: The Ghana Boy is doing strictly Hip Hop in Ghana. He has couple of songs with Kwaku T. Though he is doing the genre of music that Ghanaians have not fully accepted in Ghana (A Ghanaian doing Hip Hop), home boy is doing pretty well.

Favourite tracks on the album: ‘Get On Da Dance Floor’, ‘Somebody’ & ‘Asabone’.

Who is my favourite? Do what I say matter? Let’s get talking

I understand some artists will release later but I think the dust has been settled for this category. The next discovery of the Ghana Music Awards will come out from this list.

  1. i go for D-Black a hundered percent..all these other ppl have jump around songs..ahayedeoo n wengeze etc..D-Black is the real discovery.a real true artist for his song Somebody and for rapping in English in this country and being where he is now is not easy at all.

    • @vida,
i like kwabena kwabena’s part because i’m biased, love the dude. I’m not really into hip hop but it seems like d-black had a good message. I just hope he keeps it clean like that. We don’t need the junk hip hop music about hoes, drugs, money, and alcohol. I do however like the song alot, it has a very good message. nana boroo’s song is more hype music. And i mean is gyan really a musician??? Don’t know why people consider him a musician. Great footballer, but that is it. African girls had too much auto-tune 🙄

      • But then I dont think these two people can really be compared to each other.(Asamoah and Nana)They both live in two different worlds, a footballer and a musician.Ofcourse Asamoah featured in Casto’s song, which I believe he is doing out of passion but with Nana Boroo, you can clearly tell that he has both the skills and passion.(And probably wants it as a career too)

That’s exactly what i said. I mean how do u compare gyan to nana. African girls song was all auto-tune. Dude was not singing. Nana’s song is hype. It’s the one, when u want to party or when u are in a happy mood, u listen to. I like D- black’s song too. It had good message, he should just keep it clean like that. No hoes, money and rapping about nothing. We don’t need wannabe lil wayne, 50 cent or should i say 25 cent because they are wannabe. Overall, we have good talent

  2. How can Jay Ghartey not be on your list. He is the best new artist Ghana has to offer the world and has the most fans within the last year all across Africa. My lady is a hit with all age groups kids, teenagers, aunties and uncles. Everybody. When you are in Accra you can hear his music playing from all the spots. Check yourself whoever did not mention Jay Ghartey. And the females adore him here in Ghana.

I think because Chris was talking about 2010/2011 discovery of the year. Jay was discovered before that, that’s why he is not on the list. And do females “adore” him because he is cute, or because he can sing, or both??? More cute right??? 😆

      • His first album just came out last week. What are you talking about?Ghana discovered him this year. If not when was he discovered? please inform me.He has many supporters because he is multi talented. Or are you unaware of his singing and rapping skills?
Are you in GH? In Ghana who fit sing pass jay Ghartey?

        • who sing pass jay ghartey you asked????….2 words…..KWABENA KWABENA……..CASE CLOSED. hahahahah

Jay ghartey, is just attractive, so of course girls will adore and gravitate towards him.It i like asking who is the best BS footballer, alot will say Kevin Prince, before that it was agogo. Ghanaian love light skin foreign players/singers. I mean even if Jon germain sung the exact song jay ghartey sung, jay will still be more popular in ghana….that is the truth of the matter. I know it’s controversial but it’s the truth

Sorry if i got his discovery mixed up….thought his song, “me do wo” came out in 09. I might be wrong. Oh well. Jay na be ok….he no be all that 😉
