Versatile Radio Presenter, Actor and all round entertainer, Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey popularly known as Abeiku Santana of Okay FM has finally seen his life time dream of bearing the title doctor come true.
The unperturbed “Ekwan So Bre Bre” host received the highest educational honours in his life at Saturday October 1, 2011 with two others, Maurice Kwabena Ampaw, a lawyer and Rev. Prince Emmanuel Atsu Agbesi, a minister with the Bible Seminary, at the Trans Continental Assemblies of God Church on the Spintex Road in Accra. Abeiku was honored with Honorary Doctor of Humanities in recognition of his contribution to the Christian Ministry and Leadership. The honor was bestowed on him by the world recognized Pan African Clergy Council and Bible Seminary.
Abeiku looked very humbled and overwhelmed when he was decorated with robe and the hat and anointed with oil, as he was being honored in-front of his family, friend and colleagues. “I feel so honored. I thank the Almighty God for giving me strength and I thank every human being at any part of this planet who has supported me in one way or the other for me to get this far. I never believed that such a reputable Christian body will ever appreciate and notice what I do. It feels so motivating and encouraging”, emotional Abeiku Santana told this reporter after the ceremony.
He said when was first informed by the Clergy that was going to be honored with a doctorate, he thought he was just going to receive it on the said date and that will be all but Abeiku said until he was honored last Saturday, he was just a nominee because he actually had to justify why he thinks he deserves the honour. Santana said he went through several hours of questioning and presentations before a high profile panel of six educationalists and religious leaders.
Asked about how the whole thing came about and how he was chosen, Abeiku said he was chosen based on someone’s recommendation for successfully running his own company, Strategic Communications, his humanitarian work and his work in the media. He revealed that he does a lot of humanitarian work on his own feeding and sheltering children and woman villages but because he does that based on Devine calling, he does not talk about it in the media but somehow the clergy saw all that.
He said he was assigned to write a paper and research on the topic “The Modern Day Clergy And How The Media Handle Religious Issues”. He disclosed that after his research he had to do a presentation to panel of six to elaborate on his research after which he was questioned thoroughly. “I was very surprised because the panel actually played back my voices on how I treated issues about some pastors on my radio program which means that they have being monitoring me for some time now without me knowing”, Abeiku said. He said he was questioned as to why he starts his radio program with the preaching the word of God and playing gospel music but changes to say things that do not conform to the word of God but he insisted he not a pastor. “I told them I am not a pastor I am a broadcaster and as a professional broadcaster, I owe it a duty to satisfy my listeners from all religious divide even though I am a Christian. My profession is supposed to educate, inform, entertain and hold people in public offices accountable”.
Dr. Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey aka Abeiku Santana has a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration, DS in Criminal Law, Advanced Certificate in Public Relations and Advertising, an Associate in Legal Services and Litigation and Associate ACIM. He established his own business support firm, Strategic Communication about 7 years ago to indentify young unemployed graduates for Events, Advertising, Public Relations and Human Resources.
Asked whether this is going to change him in anyway Abeiku said “Nothing will really change about me I rather feel I have been empowered to do better and more of what I am already doing. The challenge to me is that I see myself now as an ambassador of Christ and I have to do everything according to the doctrine of the Christian religion but that notwithstanding, it is not going to change the way I present on radio or how I go about my daily activities. I am not a pastor”, emphasized.
Among the people present to support him on his big day were; his wife Mrs. Margret Aggrey and their children, Fadda Dickson of Despite Group, Kwami Sefa Kayi of Peace FM, Hiplife Musician Kwaw Kesse, Ohenenana Kwame Amo of Okay FM, Isaac Yeboah Editor of P&P and staff of Strategic Communications.

Please come to Awoshie Anyaa market junction, the road leading to Pallas town NOT the school junction. from the market junction to palls town there use to be a popular spot on the road leading to the pallas town called Plus B spot. B4 the spot thee used to be a private secretary of the MP OF Weija constituency in that area of which her house is normally called Pepsi house. This women have been opening her manhole after putting cabad in and pouring it on the road spoiling the road and telling people that when their Govt. comes to power she will repair it. Not only her but becos of that there is an hotel behind the Pepsi just opposite the pallas also do the same ones a month. Finally, they is also an international school along the road called hayfron int. school also with the same character. All efforts by residence to stop them have failed becos of the MP of the constituency. Help the residents has they are suffering.
