The winner of the on-going Miss Universe 2012 competition will be selected on Wednesday 19th December 2012. Last year, Miss Leila Lopes made history as the first woman from Angola to win the Miss Universe crown.
After Leila Lopes win, Africans are more confident that black beauty has come to gain international recognition and as such, many hope another African stands a good chance of being crowned Miss Universe 2012.
Representing Ghana at this year’s Miss Universe is Miss Gifty Ofori who grew up in the suburbs of Accra, in a household where discipline, hard work, and achievement were always emphasized. Quite the tomboy, She would often be found playing outside with her siblings and friends.
Her interests include gardening, nature, and travel. Currently, Gifty works as a registered nurse and hopes to one day become a doctor.
Gifty says…
She collects pebbles gathered from along the coast of Ghana and other West African beaches.
Gifty’s dream job is to become a medical journalist on an international news network.
Gifty once helped delivered a baby on the side of a road when she was a first-year nursing student.

She can make it at the highest level judging from where she stayed Accra where civilization exists in the whole Ghana ,I wish her good luck to bring the crown home…

Well lets hope and see she is indeed beautiful gifty has been rated 7.9 if she can beat miss Finlandas she is the one holding the highest rate 9.1 after her is miss Philippines Who has been rated 8.5 and miss Guyana who has been rated 8.3 so yeah it’s going to be a tuff one but wish her all the best we all know that Ghana has had a tough time duplicating what Akuba Cudjoe had achieved in 1999 not even when the sent the model Awurama Simpson in 2010. I think Ghana has a tall sash factor to scale. That is why I don’t expect much from Gifty Ofori. But all the best though
