This is heavily ridiculous…

Kumasi based actor-Big Kwess (real name Kwesi Asmaoah) has been in the news for saying, some Ghanaian movie Directors and Producers sleep with the actresses/actors in exchange for movie roles—a practice no reasonable industry person can deny, except if you are a thick brain FIPAG or Actors’ Guild executive.

There were series of fast developments yesterday through which we saw warning letters issued by Ghana Actors’ Guild and lawyers of the newly formed Actresses’ Association of Ghana requesting Big Kwess to retract his statement or face the consequence.

It seems like the Marfia and Kangaroo way of doing things in FIPAG is back in operation as a letter circulating around indicates that, Big Kwess has been banned for 2 years—and his crime is; for saying the truth.

Even if you think what he said is not the truth; what do you make of Nikki Samonas coming out to say for a fact that Producers and Directors are always asking actresses for sex in exchange for movie roles and that she was given this offer some time back?

What sort of investigation did FIPAG, Actors Guild and the many ‘useless’ organisations carry before making this jump on Big Kwess’ career?

The letter issued by FIPAG says “FIPAG has sanctioned him for a period of twenty four months effective September 23, 2014. Any FIPAG member, Marketer or Distributor who engages his service as an actor or either wise does so at his or her own risk”.

It further reads “Any film he is engaged in during this period will not be scheduled for release”

Few years ago, Ghanaian actress-Yvonne Nelson was banned by this same FIPAG for what many considered as a ridiculous reason, just like this one…
