Ten (10) months after the murder of manager of hiplife musician Kwaw Kesse, Fennec Okyere, the big question the public and art critics keep asking the police service is: Where has the police service reached with investigations on the case?

The nation woke up on 13th March, 2014 to the sad news – Fennec Okyere shot dead. Later, it came out clear that he was actually stabbed to death by unknown assailants at his residence in Spintex – a suburb in Accra.

In the course of their investigations, the police arrested Bull Dog, Manager of dancehall artists, Shatta Wale, on Thursday, 15th March, 2014 in connection with the murder of Fennec. However, after 2 court hearings on the case, the police service have since not made any new findings on the case to the public – despite the clarion call on them to do so.

In an exclusive interview with PRO of Ghana Criminal Investigation Department, ASP Joseph Darkwah, to find out where their investigations have reached on Fennec’s case, he was evasive in his responses. “Well you know, it is not everything we disclose to the public on our activities.

“Exactly where we have gotten to, I can’t give that out. It’s like a doctor examining a patient – you don’t just put out report. When we are through with investigations, we shall make our findings public – whatever that is in it, will be made known but for now that we are still on investigation, I can’t give information until we are done.”

Contrary to the general sentiments which seek to suggest that the police are not working on the case or have perhaps closed docket on it, ASP Darkwah assured that they are assiduously working on the case. “We are seriously working on the case. I can tell you that we have advanced in our investigation with more findings. We have really advanced but we cannot put that out until we are through with our investigation.”

However, GhanaCelebrities.Com gathers that the police have finished with their forensic tests on the crime scene – after which it came out that there were many fingers on the crime scene. Aside that, we also gathered that the police are facing logistic challenges, hence making their investigative work difficult…

Though he failed to confirm or deny the forensic test findings with the reason that the police are still on investigations, he reacted on their lack of logistics: “We have not said so. We have not said we lack anything. We have not said anything like that” ASP Darkwah said.

Meanwhile, in a story authored by Ama Larbie, which was published on Ghanaweb.com on 6th Dec, 2014, Head of the Homicide Unit of the Police Service, DSP William Seduamey, was quoted to have indicated that the police is lacking the necessary equipments/ gadgets needed to conduct in-depth investigation.

Mr. Seduamey stated: “We have written to the outfit (department/unit) in charge of providing us with the necessary investigation equipments but we are yet to receive any. But, we are going on with investigations with the little resources at our disposal to lay hands on the killer/s of the deceased.”

Though GhanaCelebrities.Com called ASP Darkwah’s attention to the story, he denied it. ASP Darkwah entreated the general public to be patient and desist from creating impression that the police service are not at work on Fennec Okyere’s case.
