When we have several problems to deal with, people are still mired in their ignorance and superstition and the resultant uncivilised behaviour that stops progress.

A Starrfmonline report indicates an albino in the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana has had to quit schooling because of the strong stigma still attached to albinos.

People murmur around him, with some claiming in the olden days he would have been sacrificed to the gods: unbelievable bigotry and cruelty, in 21st century Ghana.

The 19 year old former student of Atebubu senior high school spoke to Starr news…

“When I pass by the market on my way to school, I hear people saying that if it were in the past, I would have been used for sacrifice.

“And I always hear them saying that so I was afraid for my life and I decided to stop going to the school. Now, I no longer go to school; I am staying home and my parents understand”

All it would take to understand phenomena like albinism is a little education; but we seems not to be too interested in that.
