Whilst Buhari’s election generated a wave of optimism over Nigeria, his first couple of months has not been easy, with some people dubbing him ‘Baba go slow’.

Who knows, maybe the name calling has gotten to him, because a lot of big men in Nigeria woke up yesterday to news of their sacking. President Buhari has relieved the heads of Nigeria’s armed forces and other defence chiefs of their appointments, making new appointments in their stead.

These include the heads of the army, navy, and the air force. The national security advisor, chief of defence staff, and the chief of defence intelligence, all received their marching orders as well.

Perhaps the firings were political, or perhaps the president is fed up with the state of the nation’s defence, which has actually deteriorated since he took charge. Boko Haram has become emboldened and is carrying out more terrible atrocities than before.

A few hours after the mass firing, a new list of appointees was announced. Better luck to these new guys in getting rid of Boko Haram.

Now can we make a list and sent it to President Mahama for some similar action?
