Desmond Elliot Announces 4 Years Hiatus From Nollywood

Popular Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot who was elected as a lawmaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Surulere Constituency, in the April 11, 2015 Nigerian General Elections; has declared his intention to put on hold his acting career for some time.

The 41-year-old actor turned politician, revealed in a chat with the Net Nigeria that, he his taking a break from the entertainment industry—in order to concentrate and champion his political aspiration.

According him, his inactiveness for the next four years doesn’t mean he is totally out from Nollywood.

‘There is nothing acting in all I do now, it’s the job as a legislator and doing work to ensure that there is a better structure in the industry,” he said.

Desmond Elliot declared his intentions in September 2014 to run for Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress. He contested and won the Surulere Constituency in the April 11, 2015 Nigerian General Elections.

He has featured in numerous movies after a friend influenced him to venture into acting–and started playing roles in soap operas like Everyday People, One Too Much and Saints and Sinners.

In 2008, Desmond Elliot co-produced and co-directed the movie “Reloaded” which received 3 nominations at the African Movie Academy Awards in 2009.

He was nominated for the Best Actor category at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in 2009 and 2010.
