The General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Johnson Asideu Nketia, has come to the defence of Dzifa Attivor, saying she should not be attacked for merely speaking the truth.
The NDC scribe was speaking on the issue of perceived ethnocentric comments recently passed by former Transport Minister, Dzifa Attivor.
Attivor told supporters in the Volta Region that they should not vote for the NPP because when they come into power, prominent Voltarians like herself would be jailed.
The statement has attracted condemnation for stoking tribal sentiments, with the NPP and former President Rawlings both chiming in. However, Asiedu Nketia, speaking in an interview, said that Attivor’s statement was factual.
“Are people worried because Madam Dzifa Attivor was speaking the truth or not? If you hate to speak the truth, then you will continue to be worried” he said.
The man often known as General Mosquito added that the onus lies on the NPP to respond to the charge, as Attivor gave examples of people jailed by the party when they came into power.
