Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. have actually been convicted on tax evasion charges but it looks like Cristiano Ronaldo is not going to be that far behind, with the Portuguese and Real Madrid forward at the centre of a massive tax evasion scandal about to hit the game.
According to documents spotted by the German publication Der Spiegel, which are set to be published in full Sunday, Ronaldo stashed as much as  €150 million in tax havens in the British Virgin Islands and Switzerland.
Ronaldo’s former manager in Real Madrid, Jose Mourinho, has also been accused of a similar offence. The two share an agent, Jorge Mendes, who is said to be at the centre of the scandal and developed the system.
The revelations were contained in a dump of documents Der Spiegel sent to the Associated Press, as part of the first portion of the operation they are calling ‘Football Leaks’.
Meanwhile, lawyers for both Ronaldo and Mourinho have revealed their clients fully complied with Spanish fiscal law, during the period under review.
