From a Ghanaian in the Diaspora to another – this is a beautiful story.

UK Grimes star Stormzy – born Michael Ebenezer Kwadjo Omari Owuo Jnr – is making headlines after he donated £9,000 to an Oxford University student to help fund her masters degree from Harvard.

Fiona Asiedu, from Tulse Hill in south London, started a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to help defray the costs of her upcoming masters degree course in Human Development and Psychology at Harvard University.

Asiedu set a target of £12,000 to help her raise enough money for tuition and other costs at school, and luckily for her, Stormzy decided to chip in.

A friend of Fiona’s tweeted the crowdfunding campaign at him, hoping for his help.

And he obliged, making a donation of £9,000 to the fund, helping Fiona reach her goal much quicker than she had anticipated.

‘LOOK AT WHAT GOD DID. £12k in 20 hours. BLINDED. BY. HIS. GRACE’ she tweeted out after reaching her goal.

Having raised more than she wanted, Fiona is now calling for more donations, which she would use to start a foundation to help underprivileged Black students to attend Oxford.

Fiona starts her course at Harvard when the new academic year starts in August.
