I’m pretty sure Ghana is the only country in the world where the government can wake up one day and then decide to rescind a contract no one forced them into signing, thus migrating an entire power grid onto another company with no prior notice.
It’s a mark of the haphazard way those in power treat the great responsibility of managing the nation that we gave to them. It is why successive governments can change the length of secondary education from three years to four years, then back to three years again with no regard.
How does a nation prosper when it is run this carelessly?
Recently we heard that government had cancelled its contract with PDS and handed the power grid back to ECG.
Unsurprisingly, we’re now being told that ECG has handed the grid back to PDS for a joint agreement whilst they resolve the contract dispute.
The new info is contained in a joint statement released by the two companies.
It’s amazing that an entire power grid is being treated like a basketball being passed between players. No wonder Ghana is a failed state.
