A Nigerian couple are making headlines for all the wrong reasons after refusing a blood transfusion for their daughter.
This couple who are Jehovah’s witnesses are refusing a blood transfusion on religious grounds.
But their daughter suffers from Hydrocephalus which might require surgery and inevitably, a transfusion.
The couple however insist that because of their beliefs they would not allow the transfusion.
“We in Jehovah’s witnesses, we don’t take blood,” the father of the ailing child said.
“I would not want to transfuse blood into the child. We will not accept blood transfusion. If in the course of surgery they would transfuse blood in the child, we would not want that. I don’t want my baby to die but that is our faith”
Sadly, this is hardly the first or last time we are going to hear such idiocy in the name of religious faith. A child is dying and because of ancient beliefs a father who claims to love her is watching her suffer.
When religion can make people so impervious to reason, it perfectly illustrates why it has become such a huge problem for this continent.
