The 2013 MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) Awards for the 3rd time was held in Glasgow last night at the new £125 million Hydro arena which opened with a series of Rod Stewart gigs less than a month ago…

The event saw celebrities, including Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt, Waterloo star Chelsee Healey and musician Jazzie B taking to the red carpet alongside bands Stooshe, Rudimental and as X-factor finalist Jahmene Douglas, who braved the rain to attend the bling event.

Also on the red carpet were Craig David, Gabrielle, Ms Dynamite and John Newman, dance troupe Diversity as well as host MOBO founder Kanya King and BBC 1Xtra’s Trevor Nelson, who co-hosted the event alongside fellow-presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford.

The crowd at the event were treated to performances from the likes of Rudimental, Ms Dynamite, Ghana’s Fuse ODG, Jahmene Douglas, Tinie Tempah, Iggy Azalea and others…

At the end of the night, Fuse ODG managed to beat Wizkid, Atumpan, Tiwa Savage and others to take home the Best African Act award…

Atumpan’s smash hit ‘The Thing’ has faced lots of criticisms as cross section of the general public felt it didn’t deserve any nominations at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards because of the sexual suggestive lyrics.
Atumpan might be smiling now to get a major endorsement of the song from one of the biggest defenders in the history of football.
Anton Ferdinand, the younger brother of Manchester United and England defender, Rio Ferdinand is expected to fly to down to Ghana to be part of the 5th edition of the ‘Stars Soccer Fiesta Reloaded’ in Kumasi on June 24.

 Ever since musician Walter Martey Hammond popularly known as Walter D hit the music scene 5 years ago with songs like ‘Show Your Love To The Orphan’ and ‘Scoloko’ (Kaalaka Mi) which talks  about abuse of child, the musician is out again with yet another song Save The Child which is already enjoying  air play on the TV Stations.
According to Walter D, children are the future leaders of the nation and he would do all he can to save the child from being abused. Walter D says no musician is focusing on doing songs for children in terms of child abuse that is why he’s come out to reach out to abused children.
Save the child according to Walter D is expected to educate people about the dangers of child abuse especially in the rural areas where child abuse is rampant.
