Internet usage has increased greatly all around the globe, especially in Africa. The new internet boost and availability make it possible for some us to easily connect with loved ones, engage in various businesses and entertainment, catch up on what is happening in other countries, etc.
Very well hidden behind all these positive things we derive from the rapid expansion of internet is a group of advance and confident tricksters called Internet Fraudsters.
For the smart ones (like some of us), the ways of these Internet Fraudsters are stupid and can be easily detected.
They all seem to follow a particular pattern of either you are a winner of a big lottery (you never bought a ticket) or the Fraudsters have some gargantuan cash they will benevolently want to give to you.
I once asked myself if people really fall for such crap-annoying, stupid and weak tricks until for some reason, someone got hold of my paypal account in 2008 and used it to book a hotel in Florida. I was able to prove that I did not make the booking, I do not need any hotel out there and paypal immediately refunded my cash 🙂 …I have not still been able to figure out how they got it.
Experts believe global Internet fraud scams people out of hundreds of millions to billions of dollars each year. The figures keep increasing as internet usage expands.
