FOR THE WOMEN: Stop Believing The Myth That Marriage Will Make You Fulfilled – It Doesn’t

Happy Newlyweds in Front of Mansion

Getting married can seem like the end of all a girl’s problems or can seem like a way to get a new start. It doesn’t work that way. Marrying as a solution to painful circumstances or marrying in order to be fulfilled almost never leads to a good and lasting marriage.

It is never advisable to be in a hurry to leave home (your parent’s house). If you think you’re half a person and marriage will make you whole, it doesn’t.

The need for some form of security and stable support – financially, materially, mentally or emotionally also motivates the determination of many women to rush to get husbands. However, there are some women, who have almost everything they need in life in abundance, but do not feel that sense of fulfilment without marriage. For them, a woman’s life without a husband or serious partner is nothing but an unfulfilled life.

That to me is a myth. Keeping your life on hold until Mr Right marries you is just like wasting your precious life away. You can live a fulfilled life as an unmarried woman until Mr Right appears.

Don’t wait for a man before you live that worthwhile life. Add value to your life. Don’t be fooled that marriage will solve all your problems.

Don’t let desperation take over your life and start pushing a man to marry you – you cannot force any man to marry you against his own will. And if you think getting pregnant for him will put him in a haste to marry you just remember, not all men will think like that.

Don’t get pregnant deliberately as a bait – if he’s not ready or not willing to settle down, pregnancy won’t change that. If you’re not lucky enough, he will even grab the child from you when you deliver and kick you out of his life.

Marriage is good but if it has not happened yet, don’t sulk, don’t kill yourself or be running around looking for solutions, because sincerely speaking, marriage is not meant for everybody and it is not every woman who will get married in this life…

Don’t settle for ‘something is better than nothing’. There’s more to life than marriage! What you have in abundance is somebody’s prayer point. Enjoy what you have now – family, friendships, career etc.

  1. VERY VERY TRUE!!! MARRIAGE IS A PHASE IN LIFE BUT SOME OF US GH WOMEN THINK MARRIAGE IS THE HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENT IN LIFE. A LOT OF WOMEN HAVE ENTERED WRONG MARRIAGES THAT RENDERS THEM LIVE UNHAPPILY EVER AFTER. ANOTHER FACTOR THAN CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO THIS IS ALSO POVERTY AND PRESSURE FROM OUR SOCIETY. SOMETIMES A GIRLS PARENT CAN EVEN FORCE HER TO MARRY A MAN FOR FINANCIAL GAINS. OUR SOCIETY HAS TEND TO SEE UNMARRIED WOMEN AS WOMEN WITH NO MORAL VALUE. THE AKANS SAY THE JOURNEY OF MARRIAGE IS VERY LONG. I THINK YOUNG WOMEN REALLY NEED TO TAKE OUR TIME BEFORE ENTERING INTO IT.
