Colleen Stan, a woman who became known as “The Girl in the Box” after she was kidnapped and held as a sex slave in a box from 1977 to 1984 has come out to narrate her horrific ordeal reports the Sun.
Colleen was kidnapped when she was hitchhiking to a friend’s birthday party in Oregon on the 19th May, 1977–she was just 20 years old and kept in a box made of wood which was hidden under the bed of her captors in their home at Red Bluff, California.
She initially thought she was going to be save with Cameron and his Wife Janice Hooker when they stopped for her because they had a baby with them until after about half an hour later, Cameron took a different turn and held a knife to her throat threating to kill her, gaged her, tied her up and placed a wooden box over her head.
“I thought I was going to die,” she told reporters
According to Colleen, she spent 23 hours of the day in the crate and only came out when she was going to be tortured, raped or hit.
She was warned by Cameron, that he was part of a group called “The Company” who will go all out to track her and kill her if she ever tried to escape and forced her to sign a contracting stating that she was The Company’s slave.
She however, managed to escape in August 1984 with Janice’s help who testified against her husband after she was given immunity.
Cameron Hooker was tried and jailed 104 years.
Colleen’s story has been made into a film called Girl in the Box which will air in the USA on Saturday.
