Born in the mid fifties from a family of five, Anima Misa Amoah says acting has been her passion since her primary school days. Known for the famous roles she played in Kwaw Ansah’s ‘Love Brewed In African Pot’ and ‘Heritage Africa’, she is back on set again with Kwaw Ansah not as an actress but a co-producer of ‘The Good Old Days – The Love of AA’ which is set to be premiered soon.
Anima met Kwaw Ansah through Target Advertising in the mid seventies for a photo shoot for an advert which through her delivery landed her a role in ‘Love Brewed In The African Pot’ and ‘Heritage Africa’ which were her major movie but prior to that, she was acting in a series on GBC called ‘Avenue A’. She also featured on a lot of stage performances like Mambo which was an adaptation of Macbeth, The Black Star, People Are Living There, Boesman and Lena at the School of Performing Art.
Her experiences with Kwaw Ansah have been very positive and she describes him as very professional, principled and a perfect man to work with. Anima moved to England in the eighties where she continued her acting career. The Crucible and the Lost Fisherman written by Saka Acquaye was some of her performances in the UK.
As a lover of the arts, she also wrote and performed for BBC Radio. Some of her plays are ‘Aisha’, ‘Friends Forever’, ‘Survivors’ and her favorite ‘In The Name Of The Children’ all of which were produced by the BBC Radio in mid 2000. She has also been a judge to select plays for the BBC World Service.
She came to Ghana recently to help Kwaw Ansah on his pet project ‘The Good Old Days – The Love Of AA’. As a co producer she made sure everything was set for shooting, casting, costume, props, sets etc. The Good Old Days which is an umbrella title of a 24 episode series with ‘The Love of AA’ been the first to be premiered on 19th and 20th November, 2010 at the National Theatre is different with a very refreshing storyline that will make old people have a nostalgic feeling from the late 50’s and the early 60’s. Old people will relive their memories while the new generations learn from the past.
