New Terror Threat Erupts as Gunman Opens Fire on a Tram in Dutch City of Utrecht

In the wake of the deadly anti-Muslim terror attacks in New Zealand last work, yet another dangerous attack has erupted today in the Dutch city of Utrecht.

A gunman opened fire in a tram and at several other locations throughout the city, in an apparent act of terror.

The tram shooting occurred earlier today, around 9:45 GMT, according to the BBC. One person is feared dead with several others injured.

The threat alert in the city was raised to its highest level after the attack, with trams and trains all stopped from running. Schools and other establishments were advised to keep their doors closed, with the University of Utrecht shut down with no one allowed in or out.

Police are currently searching for the perpetrator, who is at large.

The attack has received prominence as it comes mere days after the massacre at two mosques in New Zealand, when a white nationalist opened fire on worshippers in two mosques, killing three dozen people in the worst attack in that country’s history.
