Legendary African-American actor Samuel L. Jackson has teamed up with British-Ghanaian writer Afua Hirsch to release a new documentary about the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade.
The series, titled ‘Enslaved’, tells the story of the slave trade but with a particular emphasis on the millions of people who died at sea during the long voyage to Europe and the Americas.
The series was partly shot in Gabon and Ghana, two slave ports and also the ancestral homes of the American Jackson and the British Hirsch.
A trailer of the series gives a glimpse of the strong emotions it evokes as it takes a fresh look at the slave trade.
Jackson was in Ghana last year during the much talked about ‘Year of Return’ and we now know why.
