Ayitey Powers and Banku
Ayitey Powers and Banku

The much anticipated bout between Braimah Kamoko (Bukom Banku) and Ayittey Powers has successfully come to an end. At the end of the bout, Bukom Banku was adjudged the winner by a unanimous decision by all three judges, making him the ‘Cruiserweight Non-Title’ champion.

This is how the game was scored

Judge 1: 117 – 109

Judge 2: 119 – 100

Judge 3: 120 – 108 (all in favour of Bukom Banku)

Bukom Baku’s Determination to Win

Several weeks before the bout, Banku had made it clear to the world that he would ‘kill’ Powers at the end of the game. Even on the judgment day, he was spotted ‘jumping’ from one FM and TV station to another, making claims of going all out to win the fight. In connection with these assertions, he chose to mount the ring with a coffin, signifying the fact that he was ready to burry Powers.

Throughout the commencement of the bout, Banku proved his determination to win the fight. Unlike Ayittey, Banku was quite aggressive, utilising every opportunity he got to attack Ayittey.

The comedic side of him wasn’t exhibited on the night. He really meant business. Full of energy and vim, he was able to dominate the fight all through the 12 rounds. His punches were on point as compared to his opponent. In effect, the decision by the judges to declare him winner was not doctored. Nonetheless, he couldn’t knock Ayittey down at round 7 as he always said.

Ayittey’s Hidden Agenda

As determined as Bukom was to win the fight, Ayittey on the other hand was so relaxed throughout the fight (except the last round where he became a bit conscious of himself).

For the first time, I thought it was an amateur boxer who was fighting Bukom. The international and professional side of him wasn’t exhibited on the night, leaving lots of his supporters worried.
