Celebrities Who Insure Their Body Parts, Is It Worth It?

Naa Ashokor, Okoro & Joselyn Duamas

You may think this is a topic not worth discussing here in Ghana but the truth is that , many of our Ghanaian celebrities are contemplating it regardless of what you think, after all, for them whatever is good in celebrity pop culture in Hollywood is equally good in Ghanaian celebrity pop culture.

Take the recent upsurge of reality shows on our screens today. Just the other day, I was talking to a certain beautiful Ghanaian celebrity (well endowed I must say) and she hinted to me that a certain insurance company in Ghana (for several reasons I will be withholding the name of this insurance company), asked her to insure her body asset and guess what this celebrity told me she is planning to insure, Her rear! Yep, you heard right ( Ghanaian Celebrities will be revealing  this daring celebrity soon).

Now just in case some of you are lost in the labyrinth of my piece , let me give you  some perspective on what this brouhaha is all about.

“[SUPER FAMOUS CELEBRITY] insures her [MOST FAMOUS BODY PART] for [SOME RIDICULOUS AMOUNT OF MONEY]” Now that what I am talking about

For those of you living outside, it’s a headline you’ve undoubtedly seen at some point in your life. Celebs in Hollywood insure their body parts (their best body assets) for millions and millions of dollars all the time… from chest hair, teeth, sperm and crossed eyes.  Now if you still racking through your brains to find out some of the celebrities who have done this. Here is a refresher course list for you.

Heidi Klum’s legs, America Ferrera’s smile to Bruce Springsteen’s pipes, Tina Turner’s legs, Jennifer Lopez most expensive rear to Rihanna’s legs and the list is endless. The list may be endless but not everybody qualifies in Hollywood to have an expensive body part. Now imagine a world if everyone qualifies…

For those living in Ghana,  this idea may sound bizarre and farfetched  but very soon and I say very soon you will be reading these headlines in your papers. Because believe it or not , like this random  Ghanaian celebrity I talked to, some celebrity somewhere is contemplating it and some insurance company is opening its doors to celebrities who want it.

Don’t get me wrong I am not in anyway against this. I mean, I will literally jump at the chance if an insurance company came to me and offered me an invitation. I mean “these girls” are worth billions of Dollars, LOL!

What is your take on this? And on a milder note, What body part do you think your favorite Ghanaian celebrity is worth insuring?

  3. Wow, nice one, never thought about this though. I am sure some of celebrities will literally jump at the chance too. Yvonne Nelson would probably insure her legs, Joselyn Dumas her hips, Yvonne Okoro and Naa Ashorkor their smiles those girls have killer smiles. Chris Attoh his abs.HMM

    • @Amoah,oh what wrong with local celebs insuring their bodies, are they not humans. Why do place Hollywood celebs on a higher pedestal. Are they better than our celebs?

  6. Ahahaha. Insuring yo bodypart? What for? The little insurance I know (I stand to be corrected) is being reimbursed for an insured loss. Now why would u insure yo smile, for instance? Why would u insure yo abs? So u can stop working out & go back to eating junk foods? Why would u insure butt, is someone gone cut it off? or u’re afraid of aging? I think its just vain & pointless. Dont get me wrong, im not against insurance in principle. But i just dont get why you would pay a monthly premium as insurance for yo “smile”? Btw, how’s the insurer gunna calculate da premium?
