Daily 2015 AFCON Round-Up: Pair Of Exciting Victories Send Congo And The Host Through To The Quarter Finals

Equatorial Guinea Vrs Gabon
Equatorial Guinea Vrs Gabon

The hosts of major tournaments often receive a major boost that sometimes see them defy expectations, and watching Equatorial Guinea dispatch a technically superior Gabonese side with a screaming stadium at their back certainly lends credence to that claim.

The final round of games in Group A was finely poised, with all four sides in with a chance of qualification. Gabon challenged the hosts, whilst Congo looked to seal their spot with a win over Burkina Faso.

Equatorial Guinea picked up a 2-0 win in a memorable encounter in front of a packed home crowd, whilst Claude Le Roy’s Congo dispatched Burkina Faso by 2-1.

Gabon was the better side for a long while in their game, but an inspired performance by Felipe Ovono in posts for the hosts kept the game level well past half time.

The first half began at a furious pace, either side proving good on the ball with lighting quick build up play. Gabon had the better opportunities, captain Aubameyang coming closest with a powerful header that was turned away by the hosts’ number one.

Video: The Day Twi Made It into Hollywood…We Mean Into ‘Sleepy Hollow’

Sleepy Hollow
Sleepy Hollow

A GhanaCelebrities.Com’s reader sent the below video which clearly shows that Twi has made its way into America supernatural drama series- Sleepy Hollow…

“Of course it’s Twi being spoken out there and if you doubt the pronouciations, just pay attention to the words on the paper”, this is what I said to the video sender who was not certain it was indeed the Ghanaian language being spoken.

In this particular episode, there is a recitation of a West African spell so that should explain the Twi adaptation…

A little funny though!  But a big plus to Kumawood…LOL

The End of An Era? Lil Wayne Planning To Sue Birdman For $8million…

Lil Wayne
Lil Wayne

There are very few such iconic father/son mentor/mentee relationships in the hiphop world, and rather unfortunately it looks like one of the biggest is coming to an abrupt end.

Lil Wayne has been agitating for months now to get his Carter V album released, but for inexplicable reasons Birdman and Cash Money have been holding it back. After exhausting all other avenues, Lil Wayne is turning to what is the final arbiter in every dispute, the law.

TMZ reports the duo met during the week to sort things out amicably, but that did not work out and now Wayne intends to sue.

He’s seeking $8million, which is supposed to be an advance he should have received on the Carter V. He also wants to be released from his contractual obligations to Cash Money, claiming by failing to release his new work Birdman has violated their contract.

Asiedu Nketia…Cut the BS | Appearance Speaks A Lot About A Person

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy_3OoD4jNY

Last week,  NDC’s Asiedu Nketia made headlines with her female coat which he wore in Germany—and he has come to defend his unacceptable style by arguing that, the winter coat is for his wife but he regularly wears it any time he travels to a cold country in the winter.

His defence has been that, he does not travel more frequently to cold countries to the extent that he has to waste money on purchasing a male coat for himself when his wife has one that fits so well.

Interestingly, he seems to think that because he was in Germany as part of a Presidential entourage  seeking to deepen the Ghana-Germany relationship and also look for some sort of investments for Ghana, his coat did not matter as he was not there for a fashion show.

New Music: ‘Kpagam Kpagam’ By 4X4 | Breaking the Borders?

Kpagam Kpagam By 4X4
Kpagam Kpagam By 4X4

You know it’s 4 X 4…

The long standing Ghanaian Hiplife group-4X4 has dropped a new single-Kpagam Kpagam and even though Killbeatz is the man on the beat, the song fits well into the Nigerian market—and would probably do well in Nigeria than Ghana.

For many years, 4X4 has brought Ghanaians several hit songs and it seems 2015 is breaking of the borders year—this song seems like a clear attempt to expand their brand into the most populous African country.

Apart from Nigeria, the tempo can also go well with the swift Francophone countries’ style of dancing and if pushed into that market, it would definitely be a success…

Listen to ‘Kpagam Kpagam’ below…

Life Is Not About What You Have But…

black woman shopping

When you take a critical look around you, you will notice that a lot of people are expensively branded but do not have what to feed on. What I mean is that, some of us want everybody to know we got all the good clothing and shoes and all those stuffs when we cannot even afford them.

But as far as I know “Life is not about what you have but how you use what you have.” Somebody can have just three clothes, but can wear them in so many different ways and make them look so good that you might think he has many of them.

You can buy low cost clothes and wear them without anybody knowing it’s worth if you do not tell them, but that is not the case now, many of us use our hard earned money to purchase all the Guccis, the Louis Vuittons and all those expensive stuffs, forgetting it is not all about wearing the expensive ones but how we wear them.

Daily 2015 AFCON Round-Up: Group D Ends Up All Square

Cameroon

Four games, four draws; that’s the situation in Group D of the AFCON 2015 after the second round of matches, none of the sides having been able to establish any sort of advantage whatsoever.

Like the first round, both games in the second round of Group D matches ended 1-1. First up was Cote d’Ivoire, who once again had to come from behind to rescue a point in a campaign that’s not going to plan in any way for our West African neighbours.

The other heavyweight in the group, Cameroon was pegged back by Guinea, condemning the Indomitable Lions to a second straight draw.

Mali has been serious contenders at each of the past two AFCONS, and they showed why with a spirited performance against the Ivory Coast. Seven minutes was all it took for the Eagles to take the lead in the early game.

Sambou Yatabare sent in a lovely cross into the box from the right, and Bakary Sako connected with a sweet, one time volley that rifled into the net; certainly the goal of the tournament so far.
