Once again people of Ghana prove their desperation or cluelessness, after a group of people crowded round an overturned fuel truck to siphon off the fuel.
This was done without any regards to their safety, which considering they were surrounded in fuel, was one spark away from turning into a disaster.
This comes just three weeks after a similar incident in Kumasi, where people indulged in the same act. Perhaps the lack of consequences from that one emboldened those in Elmina.
This incident occurred at Attabadze Junction early Saturday, after the tanker fell whilst the driver was attempting to overtake a car at the junction. People came out in droves to cart away some of the fuel for themselves.
According to TV3, police and fire personnel arrived later on site to stabilise the situation.
There nothing else to say except to point to this excellent article GhanaCelebrities.Com editor Chris-Vincent Febiri wrote after the Kumasi debacle- Kumasi: These People Are Supremely Stupid & I Won’t Apologise. It applies just as much to the people in Elmina.
