Ayigbe Edem has really won my heart for his sheer smartness. He is yet to settle fully in the game and he is doing what the likes of the Reggie Rockstones, Kojo Antwis and Daddy Lumbas have turned deaf ears to it.
From a rapper to a philanthropist and now to a thief? Oh God, have Mercy! Ayigbe Edem has seen and heard a lot.
Following recent comments by former Big Brother Africa rep, Mimi ‘Divalish’ Andani, suggesting that she would soon become the best female artist in Ghana with the launch of her album, I couldn’t help but ask myself the question, who really is the best female performer in Ghana? According to Mimi, she is going to beat the completion like stealing candy from a kid because most Ghanaian female artist put up performances similar to that of children singing and dancing at any children’s party. And while I agree with her that some of her counterparts need a lot of work on their stage craft, Mimi has a lot to prove to me and the rest of Ghana that she could actually sing to save her performances.
But seriously though who are the best female performers in the game?
When the King of Pop released his ground breaking album “Thriller” I wasn’t even born then. When he released his follow up album “Bad,” I was all but a toddler and understandably, was oblivious to all the mania surrounding the musical genius. However, as I grew older it was impossible to shake off the impression his music had on me.

On the heels of his death, like bona fide fans around the world, I struggled to come to terms with his death. I tried to find some meaning and understanding out of everything “Michael Jackson.” The new Michael Jackson movie “This Is It” reinstates why he is and will forever be the Greatest Entertainer of all times.
One of the elements that define an African woman’s beauty is her weight. When it comes to our culture voluminous is the acceptable norm. Unfortunately, this has manifested into a disturbing prevalent mentality among most Ghanaian women as most feel the need to be to heavyset irrespective of compromising their health. Ghanaian stars are not immune to this mentality.
The usual pattern is that once a star achieves some respectable level of fame, they just start piling on the pounds. Weight gain unfortunately, is usually associated with success. It is indeed pathetic the length most will go to gain weight; this includes, but not limited to binge eating or taking pills that places their health at risk. The downside to this is that some people are uneducated on the various diseases associated with weight gain.
What do these two people have in common? Madness? I think what they have in common transcends ‘mere’ madness. ‘Abodam’ means mad or crazy, I can’t say for sure who introduced that phrase into the Ghana Music Industry but the mention of that word brings in mind one person. He was seen carrying banner that read ‘Welcome Back’ on the stage at Okomfour’s welcome back show at the National Theatre and that says a lot about what they have in common. Like a friend said he’s welcoming back his ‘mad’ partner.
Is this a new madness that has taken the music industry by stomp? Or perhaps it is a publicity stunt to get the inactive artistes on board to announce to their teeming fans that they are after all not worn-outs or are back from their hideouts?
Chale this madness has gone on for far too long now? By the way who is Obrafour anyway? He is known to be coming out with proverbs in his lyrics but no disrespect some people have finally taken hip life to the gutters. Without sounding remorseful and vulgar, I think Obrafour should just shut up, if he is jaded (sounds like it), he should take a rest and not create unnecessary controversy.
There are always unending arguments between Ghana and Nigeria raised by readers no matter the subject at hand. Be it entertainment, sports or political. Readers never fail to defend these two countries respectively, with one claiming supremacy over the other.

WE like to believe that Nigeria is the giant of Africa, the continental Leviathan who has the power, influence and oil money to command the respect of other African countries.
