Ghana Stripped Off AWCON Hosting Rights ─ Full Details Here

Ghana has been stripped off the right to host the 2018 African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) after a decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to CAF, the venues earmarked for the competition are way behind schedule, hence the decision to strip the hosting rights off Ghana with less than 3 months to the start of the competition.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced a couple of important changes to the format of its flagship African Cup of Nations.
From the competition’s next edition in 2019, it would move from its usual January/February slot to June/July, at a time when the European football season would be over.

Ghana’s skipper Asamoah Gyan marking his 8th AFCON goal, has scored more goals for Ghana in The African Cup Of Nations than any player.

He has beaten Osei Kofi and Andre Ayew with his 19th minute header against Mali in the ongoing AFCON.

The Al Ahli loaned player is also Africa’s all-time topscorer in the World Cup series, with 6 goals to his credit.

1st Group D match of Afcon 2017 between the Black Stars of Ghana and The Cranes of Uganda has ended in a 1-Nil victory for Ghana. Andrew Ayew placed Ghana ahead from a spot kick awarded from a bad tackle on Gyan.

Though the Stars put up an unimpressive performance especially in the second half, they have secured a valid 3points in the campaign.
