The office of the Special Prosecutor was set up with much fanfare by President Akufo-Addo, promising a new age in accountability for politicians in Ghana.
In reality, virtually nothing has happened in the over one year period since the office was set up and Martin Amidu put in charge.

The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East and a former deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, has sued Martin Amidu and the state attempting to halt the appointment of Amidu as Independent Special Prosecutor.

The much anticipated showdown between former Attorney general Martin Amidu and Alfred Agbesi Woyome has been adjourned to January 26 2017, if it ever comes on at all.
Amidu won a judgement last month to orally examine Woyome and get to the bottom of how the infamous Ghc 51.2m judgement debt was spent, but the cross examination has since suffered many adjournments as Woyome and the current NDC government try to stop it going ahead.
Former Attorney General and anti-corruption crusader who has rightfully earned the title Citizen vigilante for himself has urged Ghanaians and all those lobbying for him to be a part of the newly elect president, Nana Addo’s team to desist from that act.
According to him, such only breeds corruption, something he is fighting against— he advised all to rather help Nana Addo in all ways they can so he would be able to deliver on his promises.

Former Attorney General Martin Amidu has filed his response to the motion filed by Woyome’s lawyers which delayed his scheduled cross examination of the businessman – calling it a ‘frivolous’ suit which should be thrown out by the court.
Martin Amidu secured a judgement a few weeks ago from the Supreme Court to enable him cross examine the businessman before the court, under oath, to ascertain how the Ghc 51m judgement debt was used by him and any possible cronies.
The much anticipated showdown between Martin Amidu and Alfred Agbesi Woyome would have to come off another time, if it comes off at all – after the Supreme Court adjourned the case earlier today (Thursday).
Today is 24 November, the much touted date for Amidu to cross examine Woyome in the judgement debt saga.
