In its 5th year, the annual ‘Tigo Ghana Meets Naija’ mega concert has gotten bigger and better—and for this year, you will get see Sarkodie, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale team up to face the Mavins from Nigeria in a musical rivalry which challenges each team to unleash their best.
When it comes to Sarkodie, you already know what you will get; quality performance of his many hit songs—and dude just doesn’t get tired on stage. Shatta Wale is another crowd puller and arguably the most listened to Ghanaian musician today. He steals almost every show..
Stonebwoy did not just have a great 2014, he’s running fast this year too and the fact that he took home the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ artiste of the year plaque should tell you that, he is on fire…
You wouldn’t catch all these 3 top Ghanaian artistes on one stage at one event so you definitely cannot miss this year’s ‘Tigo Ghana Meets Naija’ which will be held on May 23, 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre…
The biggest concert for the year 2015, Tigo Ghana Meets Naija comes off on Saturday, May 23 at the Accra International Conference Center where three of Ghana’s biggest acts, Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy will face Nigeria’s Mavin Crew.
After 4 successful shows in the previous years, this year’s event dubbed “Unleashing Unlimited Music” promises to be the biggest as the event celebrates its 5th year.
Before the stars from both countries storm stage to battle, we bring to you an in-depth profile of two of the acts Ghanaians will see on stage – Sarkodie and Reekado Banks from the Mavins Crew.
Known in real life as Michael Owusu Addo, Sarkodie is arguably one of Ghana’s finest talents on the bloc. He is a recording artist, entertainer, and brand ambassador. In 2012, he won the BET Awards for “Best International Act Africa”. Many Ghanaians recognize him as one of the Ghana’s leading hip hop and hip life artiste in the country.
He is considered one of the major proponents of the Azonto genre. Sarkodie often raps in his native language; Twi, and is considered a “multifaceted rapper” due to the various musical styles he possess.
Let me be a little mischievous here even though I am not going off the facts, the organisers of the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards-Charter House could not pay Shatta Wale his performance fees to perform at the 2014 VGMAs and at the 2015 VGMAs too, they had big issues with Sarkodie because they couldn’t meet his fees.
What’s interesting is that, this year’s Tigo Ghana Meets Naija mega concert set for 23rd May, 2015 at the Accra International Conference Centre will have the above artistes performing alongside Stonebwoy. Certainly, it must have been bank breaking to pull all the 3 winners of the most important artiste of the year award onto one stage when pulling just one was impossible for others to do..
If you do not seize this opportunity to have that once in a lifetime experience of good music from the best artistes we have, then you surely will forever regret it.
